Just like China all countries can invest on many things leading to quality manufacturing starting with education, infrastructure, political stability, consistent and coherent policies, long term view, patiently work on short term goals, investing in research, IP, automation, modernisation etc...Fortunately India seems to be having the capital both human and cash to indulge in all these....Yes, it takes time to reach where China is currently now. But it is inevitable that countries equally progress across the globe unless you see pandemic getting severe and there is of course World War like situation!

Now that China has became a superpower and is slowly getting rid of the sweatshops, western capitalists needed to find another 3rd world country where they could pay people 2$ a day.
India thinks that it will become China #2 with the western money, but it's not going to happen. It's not just about money, it's about mentality.

I don't prefer the march of the Dragon but right now India got some of the worst manufacturing standards and ethics...no Quality Control, no culling of defective products, no standards of taking responsibility for defects...I can go on.
Leaving those visceral comments amount yoga and such being created in India (come on man) what is Actually made in India right now and shipped all around the developed worlds, especially the USA, are pills. India manufactures a ton of pills and meds, if some of of those get rejected by FDA (for example due to contaminants) then Indian pharmas take it back and just sell it locally like it's no big deal.
That's the culture here in India, no amount of Apple branding will change that.
And like some posters pointed out, Apple, Samsung et al are in the business to make money. Not to be your friend. IF they will manufactuer for cheaper, they will pocket the offsets and very little of that savings trickle down to the consumers. And India is racing to becom a tax nightmare so there's that also for anyone who thinks their non Xiaomi/Realme phones will get cheaper real soon.

The whole indo-arabic numerical system that everyone use today was originated in india,most significant of them was Zero.Zero was invented by Aryabhatt.
Then later this knowledge was transferred to babylon by travelers.
