I thought they are making this a budget friendly phone? What's up with the 12GB of ram? I understand the 90hz refresh rate as it is indeed time for us to bring up the standard on displays, be it mobile, laptop, or desktop.

Nope, this will be priced around 400$, up to 600$ for the variants with 12GB RAM.
NEVER, ever believe OnePlus will be the same as the 'old' OnePlus.
They are not Xiaomi, who always make sure their products will stay competitive in over-saturated Android market.
