01 June 2020
For the oldest models, this will be the last update. However, some fairly old iPhones will reportedly be supported in 2021 as well.

Most people don't understand that there are tens of different Android phone manufacturers. It's not that Android itself isn't providing support, it's that manufacturers comes out with 10 different phones every year which have diffrerent technologies and UI's. They simply cannot update 10 diffrent products every year for 5 years. Apple on the other hand, only has 2-3 phones every year and since almost all of the phones they made have been similar for the past 7 years, it's easier to push out updates for longers periods of time.

Hello Life, 02 Jun 2020This basically translates to Galaxy S6 getting android 11. ... morePlease, no proud Samsung user will be on anything older than an S10 or S20. If you cannot upgrade your phones every year or two, you’re not worthy to hold the amazing Samsung..

< a random comment praising apple for providing 5 years of security updates, though no useful feature is provided in that time>

This basically translates to Galaxy S6 getting android 11. Forget s6, s7 and s8 also won’t even support android 11. Sad world.

geordie81, 02 Jun 2020its funny that you believe that is important, IOS is still ... moreHave you maybe considered that people care about security updates more than they do about new features? 2 years of support might be enough in terms of features, but if I want security I wouldn't use any Android from 2015 with at best Android 8 on it. Even Google who literally develops Android doesn't offer more than 3 years of support for their devices and just recently gave only 2 full version updates.

And this is why people buy iPhones, meanwhile any Android released in 2015 is at best on Android 8.0, software released in 2017.

geordie81, 02 Jun 2020its funny that you believe that is important, IOS is still ... moreWhy do you even have to comment, I take it you use Android by your statement alone...Enjoy what you have and stop the spread of hate.........

geordie81, 02 Jun 2020its funny that you believe that is important, IOS is still ... moreiOS does not need to update to match android gimmicks that get removed in each new phone (where is the Iris Scanner now?), looool, iOS just needs to carry on giving us timely security and OS updates :)

We donÂÂ’t care about your fisher price androids and their useless gimmicks that don’t get updates, but thanks for coming into an iOS topic to try and change our minds

SizN80, 02 Jun 2020That is amazing,so phones like the iPhone 6s will get the u... moreits funny that you believe that is important, IOS is still drip feeding apple devices features that androids have had for the better part of a decade, and in IOS 14, I see no reason for that to stop, apple needs 2 major updates for each android one in terms of bringing new features to the table, so 2 years and 2 major software updates is plenty in the android ecosystem, and apple has no direct IOS competition, and has about 1 billion active devices all running virtually the exact same software, Android has almost 3 billion devices with 26000 different devices from 1400 different makers all competing, quite frankly it is astonishing that the hardware is where it is and the software and hardware are working as well as they should, android isnt a closed bood like apple and its market moves considerably faster with advances way faster, stick to your overpriced and over rated fruit products in you like

I don’t understand why Android support is so bad, it’s not like those phones getting some big new performance hungry features which older devices couldn’t run. Android phones should easily run every new OS updates. And i think users know that and that’s why they won’t buy as many Android flagship phones anymore.

                          6s here & yeah!

That is amazing,so phones like the iPhone 6s will get the update yet all the phones that competed with 6s are all long unsupported now by their useless manufacturers.

Great stuff Apple this is why people choose iOS :)

iPhone SE 2020 will probably be getting updates 3-4 years after it’s flagship competitors :’D despite all of their gimmicks their manufacturers forget them easily because the competitors make throwaway fisher price phones.

Yay ! Great news, IOS 14 has been in the hands of hackers for months and they will be already exploiting its vulnerabilities and let's not forget Apples unlawful monitoring of Siri still to "Ahem" improve calls etc
