iOS 14 to hit all iPhones that are currently running iOS 13

01 June 2020
For the oldest models, this will be the last update. However, some fairly old iPhones will reportedly be supported in 2021 as well.

Both Apple (iPhone) and Google (Pixel) controls hardware and software parts of their phones. If Google wants to follow Apple in all other aspects including insane price, why they can't able to provide 5 years of software support to their phones like Apple?

SizN80, 03 Jun 2020yes iPhone 6s users are even more lucky than Galaxy s9 user... moreBut I will not buy SE even if given at half cost. I am looking forward to buy s20 ultra or P40 pro when prices reduced, because I want telephoto camera, not a dummy paperweight.

I have lost my iphone after updating 13.5 software 5dAys ago.so what should i do now? Help mevpleass

well it good news to see since i planning to keep my 6s for another 1/2 year (iam waiting for underdisplay camera screen/ small bezel like xperia 1/1 II minus akward ratio. becoz i dont like notch, punch-hole/floating notch, edge screen that interrupt my multimedia experience. and i also dont like moving part inside phone except vibration motor like pop-out camera or built-in fan like nubia phone that make phone become more prone to water damage and more easy to collect dust)

If android is really 5 years ahead of ios as many of you claim, then you will not have qualms using your phone for a long time but I highly suspect the ones who rant the loudest here also upgrade at least every 2 years with excuses like "well android phones are cheaper or ooh it has this *name half baked feature".

AnonD-836132, 02 Jun 2020Wow... Lucky iPhone 6s users...yes iPhone 6s users are even more lucky than Galaxy s9 users.
That means the $399 iPhone SE 2020 will get updates and overall support longer than the lemon $1400 s20 ultra failure.

AnonD-836132, 02 Jun 2020Wow... Lucky iPhone 6s users...Ye iPhone 6s users are even more lucky than Galaxy S8 users, looool! Crazy
That means the $399 iPhone SE 2020 will surpass the useless $1400 s20 ultra in updates, looool!

[deleted post]You keep tell yourself that because your androids are built on a cesspool even Google want to drop Android and develop a better mobile OS.

All those gimmicks are useless and poorly supported

Your beloved iPhone will get slower after each update. It is Apple's strategy. And what about android. Well for me updates don't matter as long as my phone works good enough. I'm using Samsung S6 Edge powered by android 7. It is the last official version available. But all functions are working.

LilPhone, 02 Jun 2020No CPU throttling...pleaseCpu will throttle unless Apple puts built in cooling like Gaming phones

But we all know, we can't expect that from shameless company like Apple.
They want to milk customers like Intel did on their chips with lackluster soldering and thermal paste.

Anonymous, 02 Jun 2020Most people don't understand that there are tens of differe... moreI can assure you that the reasons you listed are more wrong. Apple’s philosophy is different than androids oems. When apple sells a product, it doesn’t just sell a product, apple wants to offer full service and warranty to satisfy customers and retain them in the long run. And yeah, it’s easier for apple to update iOS since they don’t have to put any skins on top of iOS. Android oems, on the other hand, want to sell as much hardware as possible for profits and there is no incentives to continue support with updates that don’t bring them any profits, except being obligated by google if they want to use google’s services.

I really think that instead of crapping on apple, some of you android fans should applaud apple for offering these unprecedented support and hope that your favorite oem will copy these kind of things from apple. HMD has been one of the better updates oems but nobody buys their phones so maybe buy Nokia’s to send a message to other androids oems.

Why can't android, especially the Pixels, copy the one good thing Apple does? I mean, they have no qualms copying other useless Apple things -- notches, no mSD card, glass backs, no 3.5mm jack.

Anonymous, 02 Jun 2020Most people don't understand that there are tens of differe... moreThat's not really a reason, more likely it's because companies have to sell new products, for most companies phone sales are almost everything what they get from those users, so Android people using same phone many years just isn't good business for OEMs. Giving short support isn't good business either, but they propably had to choose one which they think is better in long run.

When Apple sells iPhone they will still get money from those users years after from the ecosystem. So even if people are keeping their iPhones longer Apple makes whole lot of money from that even if they don't upgrade their phone. And when the time comes they are more likely to stay in iOS after great long support from the company. It's win win situation for Apple really.

When Apple launched FaceID then android users said we had this for years... but android is still behind that feature in terms of reliability and ease of use.
Apple does when it is perfect and not half baked. Face ID is just an example and there are so many. This is just to hide the fact that android manufacturers can’t support even their flagships with new OS upgrades max after 2 years.
