Even as an Apple I have to say this was a very disappointing update, nothing interesting.
The Maps are worse! 3GS and 4 users won't get the 3D and turn-by-turn directions, plus Streetview is gone.
Switching Maps wasn't done for customers, it was done because Apple wants to get away from Google.

Only a fraction of the new features were shown. Google must have been really worried to have called that hasty press conference regarding their Maps app in response to this iOS 6 version.
Google and Microsoft even lost 1.25 billion of their value directly after the Apple announcements. iPhone 5 is going to be killer!

Max, 12 Jun 2012That's because android has got varieties which apple doesn'... morethat’s lame explanation, so what U trying to tell Android consumers “we have no idea about Android future so please take the heat for us by buying new phone with each upgrade” how it’s the consumers fault that the companies can plan their phones future in Short term, Google is screwing the companies and the companies screwing their consumers at least with Apple I can guaranty having the latest in my phone thru the years… “Upgrading to tons of things takes time” what the hell U talking about??!! Google release stock ROM each company customized it as they like and there is a different between “take times” & “getting screwed” Samsung only upgrade 2 phones S2/Note what about the rest???? That’s not taking time that’s screwing consumers.

As a recent owner of an iPad 3 and long-time owner of an Android phone...
I have to say - Apple's tagline "the most advanced OS in the world" - is something of a exaggeration!! (a big old porky pie if I'm honest)..
As a person just getting to grips with my iPad... and iOS - it's really quite jarring the complete lack of freedom you have, you can't even have Chrome / Firefox, etc. on the iPad... the limited organisation of icons... the incredibly boring folder interface... zero personalisation...
Don't get me wrong, the apps are great (not developed by Apple) and it's true 'it just works' which is kind of what you want for a home tablet... but having that kind of restriction in your pocket, day in, day out.. would be (for me) intolerable on a mobile phone...
Not being able to pick your own ringtones FFS - I mean come on, really? What year are we now?
So for me, Android for mobile, Apple for tablets = a perfect combo... but there's no doubt I think iOS is beginning to age prematurely against the backdrop of ICS and Winmo 7.5 / forthcoming 8... it certainly looks dated...
If these are the kinds of 'improvements' they're touting as 'advanced' or 'revolutionary' - then they're really running out of ideas...

Maybe Google and Nokia should take a leaf out of Apples books and sue them for CR infringement.

Anonymous, 12 Jun 2012why only few Android phones can be update to ICS? for Samsu... moreyes yes youre technically right about that , i also find that issue is annoying , some EOM's like samung need to stop making 1000 of device and commit to the quality of the update itself, looking at each one of EOM's policy just wont solve theproblem. Look at samsung , they cleary states that samsung i9000 galaxy s wont get ICS, because they it wont capable of hadeling the skin adn android core system itself, but eventually it can runs android 4.0.4 smoothlw even though it has to be pure droid without any skin. on the other side there is sony , they hear what user say abou the update, and theve done it, ics for xperia mini? thats really a wow, but it sure wont work as smooth as the one on xperia arc for example, its barely becuse hardware limitation causing eom too busy optimizing android to runs moothly on each platform. but the big things is the updates on android in just 6 months bring al hell lot more improvement, look at ios first generation, and the sixth generation, do you spot any difference? yes maybe a little, now look at android 1.0 and 4.0.4 , its like whole other OS right? besides we dont look at the same price rannge here, on the iphone price range all the droids aredy have ICS, even last years lineup , its normal that not all phones will be upgraded due to this and that issue, even if youre an idevice user , i bet youll be disapointed with this ios6 thing, i mean come on a litte udpate on siri , a minor change on appstore taht even birngs no cahnge in fungtion in general, just the design . . even in ICS htere is so many major i mean really major change in system. and for my preciton , jelly bean will not be a major udpate from ICS, it will be 4.1 not 5.0 google just as you said google wont move to fast looking the fact that many of android user still dwelling on gingerbread.

Anonymous, 12 Jun 2012why only few Android phones can be update to ICS? for Samsu... moreThat's because android has got varieties which apple doesn't have it. We have tons of option to choose a phone from not stick to just 1 upgrade. Atleast we can think of future and not just stick to the past. Upgrading to tons of things takes time but we still manage to do it somehow unlike being apple and sticking to one thing. When i have to take care of one thing then life is easy but not when have to take care of tons.
