The best part of the whole article: "... and how much of an impact frame rate has on gameplay." It's a HUGE upgrade when you go over 60. Can look actually smooth!

joe nodden, 17 Jun 2020Epic has copied everything from PUBG... except the amazing ... moreYup sure anything you can imagine... Except for the battle Royale game genre.. there’s nothing similar between these games. Infact fortnite has many interesting game modes and events, that never dawned on pubg. I play pubg on ipad and fortnite on pc.. Both are definitely good in their own ways. COD, free fire.. etc are a copy of pubg.. not fortnite

I hope more VS fighting games will be ported into Android and take advantage of the hardware performance, cause if a nintendo switch can work, smartphones most def can.

OwnFix3, 17 Jun 2020> The game will automatically show up as a tile inside t... moreThe game isn't pre-installed on OnePlus phones. Only the launcher, which is now on Play Store, is installed. You still have to download the actual 7GB game yourself. So it's just one less step compared to other Android phones.

              > The game will automatically show up as a tile inside the Game Space app and from there it's a 7GB download.

Which means it is not an OP exclusive feature. They probably edited some files in the update and unlocked those, hence, it comes pre-installed on Game Space.

Epic has copied everything from PUBG... except the amazing optimization for phones. 2 years now, the game is pretty much dead, and they still can't get it right.

Why did I assume that title meant they got Fortnite running at 90 fps on the OnePlus X.

Exclusivity deals are bad for customers in the long run.

LilPhone, 17 Jun 2020Actually it's also the game's fault as well as it's not opt... moreI mean, TBF, Fortnite uses one and the same engine, graphics files, and servers as on the Switch, iOS and MacOS, PS4 Pro, Xbox One X (and presumably the PS5 and Series X), and Legions and ROG's with a Core or Ryzen and RTX GPUs. You really need good mobile hardware to push the same graphics and server inputs bespoke PCs have no trouble with.

I honestly think the only real way for it to be better optimised on Android is to create a new standalone game like PUBG "Mobile" and CoD "Mobile" which run on completely different engines but don't resemble their console and PC brethren...

"...with Samsung having the only Android phones that can run Fortnite in 60fps, with all other Android phones being limited to 30fps."

*laughs in OnePlus 7T hitting up to 88FPS (option for 60FPS enabled) in Party Royale and Team Rumble*

LilPhone, 17 Jun 2020Actually it's also the game's fault as well as it's not opt... morePossible, but surely after all this time (and massive revenue), they would have been able to dedicate enough resources in tackling this issue. So it could also be a case of having a game too ambitious for this platform. While a modern flagship could outperform an old computer, probably running something like a Pentium D, or a Core2 at best (even if it seems like a stretch), the game was still made with much more powerful consoles and modern computers in mind.

(PS: Don't try to compare benchmark scores between a phone and a desktop. Beyond the difference in sustainability, there's also the fact this comparison yields absurd results like a 2018 phone almost outperforming a Ryzen 3, which is just impossible, especially at those TDPs)

Or they're just lazy, didn't want to invest any money in improvements and just want to keep raking it in because people play anyway.

I keep it at 2x usually. I just would have enjoyed to see GSMArena's review on that, as it would be a much more entertaining (and useful) performance review, although only for Snapdragon devices due to the others not providing good drivers...

Dont know about the cooling system on the regular 8, but the 8 pro does have some copper and graphite sheets inside, along with a heatpipe, as shown on jerryrig teardown.

From my experience with citra on sd855, its the gpu that makes the phone heatup, as it gets hotter as you increase resolution from 1x to 4x. Same for dolphin too.

Some ignorants say, phones are now as powerful as PC. Forget a pc with rtx and latest stuff.. my 3 year old 6th gen intel, and a gtx 1050ti can push high settings over 120fps 1080p. But seriously, the only mobile device that comes close Is the ipad pro. That device can also do 120 on its 120hz screen without turning into an oven.

Heard a Fortnite player with a Realme 5 Pro struggling even at minimum graphics settings, as well as ROG Phone 2 user having frame drops in maximum settings (Epic 60fps)
