Sponge, 18 Jun 2020From what I've been reading previously Samsungs Foundrys co... moreLol just like that huawei never stome a thing from samsung like the flexible AMOLED.

Abhi Dahiya, 18 Jun 2020Are you for real? It's not about out or in the reach of USA... moreFrom PhoneArena's article on potential cooperation between Samsung and Huawei:
"Dutch company ASML provides Samsung with the Extreme Ultra-Violet (EUV) lithography machines that etch patterns on wafers that show where the transistors will be placed in a chip. The ultra-violet beams can produce patterns so thin that it allows more transistors to fit inside an integrated circuit; the more transistors shoehorned inside a chip, the more powerful and energy efficient it is. And machines used to test chips can be purchased from Japan without U.S. involvement."

The fact that they are already seeking for this kind of deal suggests that Samsung is not heavily reliant on US technology.

Also Apple is in danger cause TSMC makes the chips for them and started to microled from the help of other Taiwanese companies

Element, 18 Jun 2020Actually that's not correct. They just probably have licen... moreOK I understand but I don't think so cause TSMC wouldn't make exynos for Samsung and wouldn't make chips for non US customers like NXP who agreed with them.

Still the US is trespassing Taiwan's sovereign

Aierlan, 18 Jun 2020It's nothing to do with national security. He just wants to... moreOf course, then what do people think of China using 5G equipment for espionage etc, can a company who clearly has a founder from a communist country like china really be trusted, of course can any world power really be trusted, even trump!

From what I've been reading previously Samsungs Foundrys could potentially make Huawei's Kirin chips as Samsung chip fabrication department use Lithography machines by a Dutch company, although huawei may not want to do this in fear its Kirin designs are seen by samsung foundry.

He just wants to slow down China's development in this area of technology as he wants to make sure America remains ahead. Huawei is the only Chinese company that designs their own chips and they are very advanced in 5g development aswell so he's trying to stop them or at least put them back a few years

I really don't get it. Why does trump want to ban TSMC from cooperating with huawei when mobile chips literally have nothing to do with national security? Like, is TSMC gonna invade cell towers with the help of huawei?

China / Huawei owns a lot of patents that can prevent USA from using high tech.

Another solution would be using Samsung's fab for these, but it will mean delay until Q1 2020.
I guess it won't be such a huge deal as SD875 isn't coming until Q2 2020 in devices, so Kirin 1020 can wait a few more months.
