21 June 2020
One of the tiniest Android phones ever built nevertheless had big ambitions. And a version with a hardware QWERTY keyboard.

"the market for petite phones has shrunk to a vocal minority"

Thank you. It's better to make larger phones to make an easy profit than to make a compact flagship only like 20 - 30 will buy. Compact flagships are dead; Long live bezelless 6 inchers and above (despite the fact that it's somewhat smaller or same size as the bezelled phones of 2014 - 2017)

Man i still have this phone this was a perfect phone for me back then, but it's not working now ... I still love this mini design

        Have a look at the F(x)tec Pro1. I made a review here: https://eskerahn.dk/?p=3651
Though it is substantially larger, with a 6" display.

The X10 mini was awesome, I had it for a long time and still have some excellent photos from that camera. The interface was well adapted to the screen size and it was just one of the most innovative android phones ever. The time to upgrade came when my banking app was no longer supporting the last version of Android available for it, still flashed a custom ROM onto it a year ago to play around but somehow it got permanently bricked after a day. Smartphone ecosystem needs a comparable phone, not sure there's a manufacturer that will be able to pull off as good an UI adaption as SonyEricsson had.

I woild be happy for any compact phone.. there was no compact phone released for the last 2 years. It is sad, really. So many companies and and none of them are able to make full screen compact device. Even sony dropped the line. Will keep xz2 compact for quite some time it seems...

I was on the phablet train from very early on - I literally had a Dell Switch in 2010, and the carrier with the exclusive on that 'gigantic' 5" phone were offering it on a choice of phone or data-only contracts! - but I'm no more comfortable with people being railroaded into phones they can't handle or pocket than I was dealing with coordination issues on 3.5" capacitive screens ten years ago and winding up going for a device that made some people ask "is that an iPad?" when they first saw it.

And now in 2020, a company called Unihertz came up with two spiritual successors: the Jelly Pro* and the Atom**.

I still remember able to play subway surfers, temple run etc at a much higher fps and stability (without it closing due to lack of ram) with a gaming focused custom rom.

Kio, 21 Jun 2020Got 2 of the x10 mini pro, one is dead and the other I use ... moreThis phone introduced me into Android, rooting, flashing ROMs and Kernels. It was very very educational for me. It's still working now but the back plastic is sticky like a hot glue making it almost impossible to hold on to :(

One of my first smartphone when I was in high school...
Damn today it's impossible to use such a tiny screen with internet browsing and video streaming, it's almost the size of a smartwatch screen lol

My first Android phone (the Pro version). Sometimes it was a nightmare for its battery and it's screen (both size and resolution) but it never abandoned me!

And after 10 years it's still working!

I wouldn't want a phone this small today but I do think that there should be small phones today too, like something below 130 mm high.

The xperia X10 mini gold was my first smartphone. What a beauty it was back then. Unfortunately just after using it for five days it died and couldnt power on. I returned it to the retailer and was issued a refund. So sad!

I had a mini pro which I played with for 2 days, and then got back to my Blackberry.
The bad touch and typing experience and the inadequate battery life put me off android for 3 years.

I think ecperia Ray was a compect, responsive phone. It had a very innovative design and good pixel LCD, however having low memory packed. I wish Sony launch its new version like Nokia and motorolla are doning..

I Had the second version of it, sk17i mini pro, the phone was a blast, i love it so much, had one problem with it, was hard to find a good replacement for the battery, i remember when i was in tawn at night with friends at a party and the camera flash goes triple way like a real flash and real photographer with a DSLR don't understand how i can take good pictures with this small phone! He was intrigued by the capability of the phone,)
If i find battery for it I'm sure i will still have it!

Back then phones were nice, every phone had it's unique design, these days all mainstream phones looks the same...
