This mediocre device will still be counted as a flagship by confirmation bias market analysts like Counterpoint and IDC, despite it being made with low end hardware.

I don't trust them anymore. Just buy any phone you want. Cameras aren't for comparison. Almost all phones will do good.

oh come on gsmarena , nobody cares DxOMark scores they are highly inaccurate. a lot of youtube camera comparison videos proves that.

This is in line with the expectations as Android mobiles rule the DxO charts. You want great mobile phone camera then you seem to be getting Only from Android flagships!

I wish that GSMArena would stop plugging DxOMark reviews.
I have stopped trusting DxOMark after making a purchase based on its reviews and regretting it, as well as evaluating some of their top choices. In fact, I trust GSMarena's reviews much more than DxOMark's.
So, just stop it!

I'm shocked at this rating. I just can't believe that this phone can get such high marks compared to even the original Google Pixel 2016

You're saying that the new iPhone SE does have the camera from the XR. That's probably not correct. iFixit's teardown of the iPhone SE shows that the camera is too small to be the one from the XR. But the size does match the iPhone 8's camera. Go and see yourself at https://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/iPhone+SE+2020+Teardown/133066. At step 6 they're showing a comparison of the camera modules of the SE, 8 and XR.
