Judged from this phone, Sharp's understanding of smartphones is still at the pre-2018 level.

By the way Sharp has 120 HZ, I was talking about Fujitsu. The latest flagship is indeed a flagship and it has a bigger battery than Sharp's flagship.

Mobilemaster, 04 Jul 2020If I am not wrong, sadly Sharp outsourced the making of ke... moreI don't even know about whether sharp keitai smartphones outsourced from outside or made in japan, but what I mean from my previous comments is about models which only available in japan (hope that explained a lot) I'm not talking about where those keitai smartphones produced. So, what I mean japan sharp phone or which I called Sharp keitai is actually models that only available in Japan, not about where it's manufactured :)

Now, about R5G its also keitai phone, you could see this model on their japanese website. In recent couple years Sharp announced 2 main models lineup (R and Sense), R series as their flagship (like R, R2, R3) and then there's also compact version of R series (R compact, R2 compact, R3 compact). Then there's Sense series which is midranger. Lastly, Sharp announced the new flagship series called Zero series, this lineup offer lighter phones (Zero, Zero 2). The naming R5G is mean 5G from R series, but as you said before this R5G seems didnt have 120hz display, probably Sharp change their strategy, wants this high refresh rate feature only exclusive to flagship only like Zero series :(

Fujitsu is also awesome, I like that too, and I prefer fujitsu compared to sharp lol.. but seems fujitsu models mostly midranger specced and has small battery capacity, but they recently (finally) released flagship model :)

Anonymous, 03 Jul 2020You are so wrong. Foxconn actally own 55% of the company al... moreFoxconn actually owns more than 55% of Sharp(sadly). Almost every major Japanese smart phone maker has left the smartphone world. I remember 10, 12 years ago, there was Panasonic, Nec, Casio, Hitachi, Toshiba among the well known Sharp brand and Fujitsu. Now Fujitsu is the only phone maker to produce their smart phone in Japan, and probably Kyocera too.

Anonymous, 03 Jul 2020the thing is, which lots of people dont understand, there a... moreIf I am not wrong, sadly Sharp outsourced the making of keitai smartphones as well, so there are NO Made in Japan smartphones. I we got this information from 2 sources(one is a shop owner), the other one was from YouTube. Back in March I we contacted a Japanese guy from kyoex shop, he could not provide any info about the R5G, but he had sent me a picture pf the Aquos Zero 2, which was indeed made in Japan. So overall I am not sure if there are Japanese Sharp phones out there anymore, but hey, there is Fujitsu! :) They have made the thinnest 5G phone, and it does not have any notch, but it has a high price, and NO 120 HZ display.

Halfthekgb, 03 Jul 2020It won't. It's $1,187 for very mediocre specs. So, list down what would be acceptable specs for you then.

Come on, really, 2 cut outs! If they priced it properly it may have sold, which general user is gonna want to buy this where there so many more we'll known brands about.

I remember seeing Japan only sharp phones and thought damn they should release this internationally but not like this. They should have released a decently specced midranger 1st and got more interest and then look at doing a higher end one

The sharp i know, the sharp i follow... morethe thing is, which lots of people dont understand, there are 2 sharp phones available, the first is foxconn's sharp phone which available globally that comes without any updates/support. The second is japan sharp phone (I called this Sharp keitai, and came with updates) this is the "real" sharp phones which we often saw as "visionary" just like you described before, only few of these models came out outside japan (and they ended in Taiwan), like R series, zero series, and this R5G.

Double notch? Who's the genius behind this abomination?

Oh look at that beautiful picture with a flower petal conveniently placed over the ugly notch/hole that all manufacturer keep insisting on putting on their phone despite most peoples not wanting them and every other brand also hiding them whenever possible because of how ashamed they are about it...
                                Isn't that lovely ?
