I agree this is one beautiful gadget from the future. Even the Fold looks stunning in real life. Like the author i really like the idea of combining phone and tablet into 1.
Im looking forward to these phones dropping to a 1000 to 1200 dollar price range. Right now it's just too expensive.

If I were to get a phone turn into a tablet it would be Apple iPadOS is so much better than Android on tablet for Android i would prefer Razr type fold with a huge (7 or above inch display) when opened and a small but completely workable small display like Moto Razr

[deleted post]The message isn't to go out and buy it. The message is it's hard to go back to using a normal phone after using the Huawei Xs. I haven't used one yet but, if I do, it may also be an observation I'd make. Foldable phones are the future.

Current foldable phones are all fundamentally flawed either practicality or durability wise, and way too expensive for what they offer.
Mate Xs' biggest advantage over the competitions is that you can actually use it as a phone since it doesn't force you to use tiny external display when being closed, but it's pretty much negated by its exposed fragile plastic display which makes it borderline impossible to prevent it from getting scuffed. It's way too heavy to use it as a phone, too, weighing over 300g.. Paying more than a cost of a high end ultrabook just to get tenosynovitis? Not smart at all.
On the other hand, Galaxy Fold's display is much better protected from scratches, but its tiny secondary display means it's not a foldable "phone" but rather a tablet, hence it's pretty useless when you can't use the infolding display (e.g. one handed usage). Trying out Galaxy Z Flip took me back to the time when I was still using a flip phone - I needed to open up and close the display every single time I wanted to use it/put it in my pocket, except this one was much harder to do so - and it was a laughably bad experience in 2020, at least for me.
Not to mention that none of these device come with any sort of IP ratings, and moving parts wear out eventually, shortening their lifespans. I'm not entirely sure if I'll ever be a fan of this kind of form factor even after the technology matures in 3 or 4 years. Still cool tech, though.

Why does this article seem so biased as to defend every flaw to make it seem like the author is impartial?
Dropping this would make someone cry. I'm pretty sure the Galaxy Fold is a better design. I can't even imagine this outward folding device on a table without getting some scratches. Just watch huawei go with an inward folding device shortly after

Looks like this article is an ad. Anyway here is my honest opinion about this phone. I think most people will not but this even if they can afford it because it not yet proven and tested especially on the durability and usability sides considering that current high-end phones are fine in doing the usual tasks. Most people used to believe that rich people buy expensive phones on a yearly/monthly basis. In my observation, that is not the case with older rich people. I have seen them contented with their old keypads, Xperias, Samsungs, iPhones, etc. I come to believe they don't like the hassles in changing phones so often because they have other more important things to attend to, mostly about business and career. I can see that only techies and some young rich kids are the ones who will buy this phone out of curiosity and "wow/cool" factor.

Considering that it's the equivalent of two phones, 300 g is not bad at all. It makes sense if you're willing to lug around that much weight, which is more than one could say about LG's offering.

No thanks, I'll take an LG V50 or V60 with DualScreen case all day. I just cannot imagine what would happen if I would drop the Mate Xs with such an outward folding mechanism. Plus, no need for me to carry the second screen all day with the LG since I can detach it.

This is a very good article
a type where you even talk about the smallest things too notice
this is actually a great device stopped by it's rocket price
but when it will be affordable, I hope for something like this phone..

This obviously wasn't a neutral review. Strange sycophancy, disguised as a review. It disguises weaknesses as strengths, and then goes on limitlessly about some imaginary things.
It reminds us all how the w h o ignored the outbreak, because it too wasn't neutral.

In fact, the exact opposite of what you are both saying is true - a longer tablet form will be more difficult to hold than the folded form, if you are using one hand (both hands = doesn't matter.) Because of the higher torque generated by longer dimension of the tablet form.
You can easily test this yourself - pinch your tablet in between two fingers and try to lift it. It will be more difficult to lift when you are holding it by the short edge compared to when you are holding it by the long edge. Simple physics.

Huawei steals the data of the users.
And these Chinese companies are giving alot of money to these bloggers so that they keep on floating some kind of unnecessary news or stuff like that to make good impression in customer's mind.
Don't fall in this trap guys.
