The UI look sofiticated but the home screen is extremely crowded

AnonD-21645, 20 Jun 2012It's a wonderfully rose-tinted view you have of Nokia... th... moreIf u really love Nokia, i have good news for you. Almost all of what you wrote is plain bs. MeeGo was praised as fast OS with smooth, intuitive and original UI. Not only Nokia by fans, but even by well known Nokia critics. The only downside was small application pool. Also PureView on 808 certainly isn't technology that no one wants, since 808 is a phone with highest interest on gsmarena for many weeks now.

It's a wonderfully rose-tinted view you have of Nokia... the unfortunate reality is...
1. The first step was N9...
(hailed as Nokia's saviour, but it was to bomb with the public and reviewers destroyed it due to laggy, archaic OS)
2. Once hardware was right on the money, they changed the software
(they had no choice, they had lost all traction in the market and iOS / Android had severely overtaken Symbian in popularity, they were also losing money and so made a deal with Microsoft)
3. Nokia Lumia 900: That was one of the most crucial steps that had to be taken with utmost care and consumer friendliness.
(clearly it wasn't - as they obviously knew when releasing this that it wouldn't be upgraded to Winmo 8, ticking off a lot of potential adopters.. and obviously stopping any adopters now from purchasing - hardly customer care or friendliness)
4. Now it was time to bring in the Nokia factor. An extra ordinary surprise and innovation that will blow everyone away. And Nokia 808 PureView surfaced.
(this is in background of millions of pounds worth of loss, recent news of 10,000 workers laid off and a real threat of being bought out by Microsoft themselves... The 808 not being subsidised by any carrier in any country, and not even sold by retailers in the UK... it is a protoype device only to showcase technology that people don't really want...)
That's the way companies with vision work. They don't join the mad race of making money while they could have done so with ease and the art they bring into the industry.
(Nokia is on the brink of collapse, have fallen from the #1 spot due to complacency, severe job losses, releasing phones that won't be upgraded and people are buying...)
Don't get me wrong... I love Nokia, I don't want them to fail... nor do I want them to be bought by M$...
But let's be realistic here - with Pureview they have been fiddling around whilst Rome burns around them...
Whilst the market and the public want HD screens, apps, power... it kind of shows how behind in their thinking - cameras were 'in vogue' a few years ago with Cybershots and xenon flashes, and the megapixel race... but because people just want a 'good' picture (which most do more than that now) - it's not the killer feature people think it is...
It's certainly not enough to make people lose all their apps for and start again...
I think they're in real trouble now...

for me :
android: smartphone, checkmate great conncetivity, super power, pure opennes, cant stand the limitation of apple.
tablet : MICROSOFT damn , that surface is really appealing.
toy : ios, just purely because of the choise of apps, other than that? not thx cant stand of the limitation, and even if you jailbreaked it and customize it heavily it will get laggy and unstable
