I'll believe than people are switching to iPhone 12(or iOS) when marketshare reaches 25%.

240W charging should be ready next year.
That should get a 4500 mAh battery fully charged in 10 min.

        Take that, Sony fanboys.

[deleted post]They don't need to copy anything, I'm already seeing a massive amount of people saying they will switch to iPhone 12 series. Why bother with Android when no OEM gives more than 3 updates and the next version of SafetyNet is uncrackable?

Some people love to use the word "innovation" too loosely.

To these people: 125w charger will be an innovation, 120Hz refresh rate was an innovation, 7nm fabrication process was an innovation, quad rear camera was an innovation, 108MP was an innovation etc etc.

Numbers. Xiaomi, not to feel outdone, might come up with 150w soon. And innovation!

ThePong, 13 Jul 2020Oppo clearly innovates when it comes to fast charging solut... moreSamsung did also this for so many years after the Note 7 fiasco. The S8, S9 and S10 series have all slow chargers. Or as Samsung put it "adaptive fast charging". It was only with Note 10 plus that Samsung finally decided to enter in the real fast charging speeds (with 25W charger). And now 45W with S20.
But imo, this speeds are ridiculous (I mean more than 40W). What Huawei did with 40W in Mate series was the best combination between safety and time consuming. To charge a battery of 4000-5000mah in 60 minutes is good enough for me. I don't need to charge it in 15 minutes, with all the risks included.
And no matter what everybody says there are always risks. Is like saying that travelling in a super safe car at 250 km/h is not a risk, because you trust the car manufacturer.

LG Superfan, 13 Jul 2020You can use a slower charger if you wantYes, you could. But how many people would leave the superfast charger for a slower one, even when the slower one isn't really slow and would be safer for the battery health and longevity? They know that most people want the fastest, even when they don't need it.

Oppo clearly innovates when it comes to fast charging solution.

I wouldn't trust a realme phone with 125W due to poor QC, though. Mutiple units already had catastrophic issues (2 battery explosions, 1 C3 and XT respectively) despite being Oppo's tech. Not to mention shocking screen burn in in an LCD screen, mould growth on plastic back, touch delay, etc.

I however can trust 125W in the next Oppo Find X3, if available, and that's a good move.

Sony and Apple really needs to move out of conventional or slow charging solution despite built-in hardware/software systems that counter battery degradation (not even Samsung uses this).

It's by no means an innovation. It could be argued that it's an interesting jump, but it's not that either, at least to me.

Xiaomi and Realme built their reputation by copying other manufacturers at lower prices. And people still bought their phones. Because nobody cares who is copying who as long as they can make a better experience for the end user.
If we want to be true about this, everybody else copied Apple since 2007. But, you will not hear Apple users say this all day long.

                                    This is frightening
