Battery degradation means your phone will last less longer on a single charge.
"Slowing down phones" means reducing their performance, and battery has got nothing to do with performance. Performance is only associated with CPU, GPU, RAM, storage,....
Fun fact:
If you have a rechargable battery, it will degrade over time.

If you want premium experience you are looking at apple. There are 3 types of people who go for android. 1) the poor, 2) the ones that like specs on paper (similar to people bashing console gaming because their ultimate pc master race) and 3)the ones who got used to android and can't be asked to try something new.
When you grow up and have your own money you will buy an iphone (because why not for a change) and then you'll never buy an android again. The experience is much better. trust me. been there done that. My company phone is an android. Latest galaxy S series which is an amazing phone but since it's not iphone you start looking at it like it's second class experience.

Those companies despite making less profits, never fool their customers like Apple.
So glad to be part of the premium Ecosystem of Android where one gets quality devices at all price ranges without them slowing down due to manufacturers pushing evil intended updates.
No wonder majority of the people prefer Android and want nothing to do with prison OS.

Under Canadian and U.S.A. consumer protection laws they should have issued a recall. However trying to prove such while pursuing legal action against an entity known to abuse legal systems and draw out legal actions over many years shifting through multiple levels of court systems is questionably profitable and risky for anyone trying. Hence justice go un-served and the perpetrator gets a quite slap on the wrist in a single sales district.
As for your comment on support of android and updates, consumers have the option to buy devices that are guaranteed support for 3+ years. If they choose not to for whatever reason that is their concern, but a blanket statement about software availability and support especially considering IOS's record of leaving long standing known issues un patched comes across as disingenuous.

Fast charging has been around a while now.
Same was said about 30W or 40W fast charging without reading up on basics of those higher Watt fast charging technology.

How does it feels to know that later in near future your fast charging phones got deteriorated battery, swollen phones and any other defects with higher failure rates compared to other brands? And you can't sue this. Then you got forced to change your phones every 2years while other expensive phones does justifies their quality to deserve. But no worry, because you won't realized it yourself because blinded by your fanboyism.
No need to bash certain brands, because other brands also do the same thing in many different ways. To me this batterygate doesn't differ with brands saying fast charging wont deteriorate your battery, in the end consumer forced to buy newer one.

Exynos variant standtimes are a joke, even compared to an iPhone 11 with small battery and LCD screen. The gap is even bigger with Android flagships.
Oh, don't tell me even a Redmi Note 8 Pro performs better in games than a S20 Exynos. (GizChina has reported this article when a Chinese tested this in PUBG Mobile).

S20 Ultra priced more than top-configuration iPhone 11 Pro Max and camera doesn't even work well.
Watch MrWhoseTheBoss's YT video about how the Exynos version underperforms compared to SD version, which has a tiny price gap. Even some leaksters like Ice Universe knows that Exynos is a huge dissapointment.
Not to mention Samsung phones depreciate a lot currently a 2nd hand S10 costs the same as a slightly cheaper Oppo Reno 10x.
Many people just don't get it, eh?

Apple need to learn from their competitors to force consumer to buy newer one, instead intentionally diminishing the performance of their older iPhones, apple should give them that super-blazing-fast-charger 120 watts or more.. it's more clever batterygate
