Could you imagine Huawei financial results with Google Services on their phones ??

Huawei positive results mainly contributed by Chinese patriot mobile users in China mainland, after they saw United States of not so great America bullying their Chinese brand. It's a simple math that America administration office was so naive and never see it coming. Who will the USA-China trades war? I'll put my bets on China, as USA world supremacy is on it way down.

Both public and private companies need an external audit by a qualified independent auditor. There is an exception in some countries such as the UK for small companies (obviously Huawei is not a small company). For small companies the cost of an audit may not be feasible in relation to the size of the company which is the reason for the exemption. However, if a company is not small it must be audited. This is regardless of whether it is a private company or a public company listed on a stock exchange. In the case of Huawei, KPMG is their external auditor and you can access their KPMG audited financial reports on their website

By the way, dude, software updates are overrated. Complaining about "only 2 years of updates" is ridiculous. What would improve with a 5 year update? The camera will get the newest CMOS sensor with larger pixels and 2 additional stops of dynamic range? Or the screen will be replaced with a newer, better 14 bit one? I don't think so. Updates are there to fix some bugs, and that's it. If you can't fix your phone in two year, give it up, that phone will never work as it should.

Even 6s can handle iOS14 very nicely. Also long support means better resell price. It's lot easier to sell phone which still gets new OS versions in the future than Android phone which won't get Any updates anymore.

I think this is one big reason why Android flagship phone sales are down a lot nowdays, paying huge amount of money for two years of support these days just doesn't sound right.

They ... moreOn the outset it's interesting that one can even 'track' smartphone prices over the years. Surely a smartphone is not a pure commodity like beef, whose price is only dictated by supply, demand, and inflation year-on-year? This means that notwithstanding the vast improvements in all aspects of technology (graphics, photography, network etc), to the user a phone made in 2020 is still essentially equivalent to one made in 2010, i.e. the smartphone has not come into a groundbreaking, game changing transformation in its 13-year history. The Google glass would have been such a revolutionary milestone, but history said otherwise.

I had 2 iphones in my life, both second hand (one of which I still have it now). No matter the update, the iphones were perfectly working, without any issues.
Meanwhile I had dozens of Android phones, from low-end to high-end ones. There were very few models I can think of right now, that didn't had bad software updates, especially the big ones, when they transition from one Android to the next.

As an Android guy, I always thought software updates were tricky to implement, because I had so many bad cases. Until, last year, I had my first ever iphone (a second hand iphone 8 plus). And then I understood why people like iphones and why software updates are important. Are important when they are done correctly. When they are done incorrectly, of course, nobody cares about them.

Alex, 14 Jul 2020Well, that's not so hard to do. Just raise your prices... moreI think this is true for every other Chinese company. They started with low prices to attract clients and then increase gradually the prices. Xiaomi, Realme, One Plus, Huawei, the same.

It is funny how some Android fanboys say even now, that Apple has very high prices. Well, look at the Android flagships from 2020, it is more or less the same situation.
Probably Android companies thought: Hey, if Apple can do it, why not us too. The problem with Androids is that hey don't deserve those high prices: they have limited software updates (in 2 years they forget about that model, even though performance wise is very capable still), and the majority of times the updates are wrongly put to that specific model. And you need to wait 3-4 months for the next update to correct it. Lame.

This sounds promising. Hopefully they'll be able to overcome the tremendous pressure put on them.
