MrKong, 25 Jul 2020Probably not. India will continue to impose high taxes for ... moreIn 2008, 1 usd = 40 inr (Indian rupees)
In 2013 1 usd = 55 inr
Now in 2020 1 usd = 75 inr..
So from 2008 to 2020, price of a dollar has almost doubled in India. Now when you say we Indians want a 200-300 usd phone with flagship specs, it means we are also paying almost 375-575 dollars for the same( in terms of currency devaluation). Hope you will understand!

Proof that India has banned 59 Chinese apps including Tiktok.
Sino-Indian border has violent clashes.
India is too reliant on Chinese phones priced attractively. No wonder iOS tr*lls come from India. Had Xiaomi phones cost 1.5x like in Europe and Australia then I'm pretty sure they'll pick the iPhone, even if it means limited features.

MrKong, 25 Jul 2020Probably not. India will continue to impose high taxes for ... moreYeah SOME indians wanted sd865 for $200.But u cannot judge all of them on the basis of some people. And moreover the price difference between US and india is quite huge the phones that are sold in india are relatively cheaper than those of US.US people don't have a large variety of phones that indian people have in the same price range.

MrKong, 25 Jul 2020Probably not. India will continue to impose high taxes for ... moreIndia & China market have the best choice of phones available at cheapest prices.
A billion smartphones sold every year.
US market has the worst choice of phones.

MrKong, 25 Jul 2020Aftermarket accessories exist.
You can just get a iPhone (... moreI don't use cheap products.
Besides, companies like Apple are doing this so when their phones explode because of inferior half baked charging system, they can divert the blame towards those aftermarket companies.
Good way to get rid of customer warranty in case of any issue.
Pay up if anything goes wrong as you are voiding warranty according to their terms and conditions.
Not buying from company which is into malpractices like these.
IOS never again.

Shocked to see some Indians wanting a SD865 phone for $200. Complaining even already reasonably priced 6GB OnePlus 8 too expensive.

Aj, 24 Jul 2020What people don't realize is that this actually makes ... moreWhat India wants is manufacturing of display, Chipset, cameras, and what we get is just sticking together components with glue
It will take decades for that to happen and we both know that... Plus we still need REM (rare earth materials) from china since we can't destroy land in india due to the amount of people there

What people don't realize is that this actually makes the iPhone more expensive. Let's say Apple could have imported and sold iPhones to consumers for let's say 1000 rupees directly without any import duties. But Government now levies import duties of 20% and forces apple to assemble iPhones in India. The reason Apple wasn't doing that in the first place is that it was cheaper to manufacture iPhones someplace else in the world than India. Now Apple is having to sell iPhones for 1200 rupees. So to avoid that, Apple started assembling of iPhones, which is nothing more than gluing together bits and pieces to form a phone. But now Apple sells the phone for 1100, instead of 1000, but what the public sees is that Apple is selling for 1100 instead of 1200. It's all optics. The Government of India sees that as "manufacturing" but it's not the kind of manufacturing the public wants, it's just PR/optics. What India wants is manufacturing of display, Chipset, cameras, and what we get is just sticking together components with glue. None of which is made in India. But Indians have traditionally been socialists and poor at economics , so they never really questioned Government policies. Undoubtedly for 99% of Indians, this will seem good news which is just what Government of India wants. GOI doesn't really want to solve issues, it just wants to appear to have solved issues.
