LG always bringing outdated hardware. Glad they don't sell their phones in the UK anymore.

mike777, 28 Jul 2020The whole Velvet thing will be a major flop. It's just... moreSo, according to your logic, a phone with a two-year-old flagship SoC should cost the same as a current lower midrange phone.
Name a phone, that has a better SoC than the SD845, for 200 euro.

As a Hungarian I think it's a pretty great price for it. (and it's nice that we didn't get a worse version)

The whole Velvet thing will be a major flop. It's just too expensive for what it offers. Sd 765 phones are 300 euros. Thats it. Not 400, not 500 and definitely not 600. 845 should be 200€ tops today. It's freakin 2,5 generations behind. Whats with LG? Inmates running the asylum i guess😁😁😁

I mostly agree with you

If V60 had high refresh rate, it would have kicked the competition's balls. LG should have played the Samsung/Apple game and released two models: V60 and V60Plus where the V60plus had the high refresh rate and hopefully QHD display like Oneplus 8 pro and Samsung S20. That would have been my dream device.
On a more reasonable note, an LG Snapdragon 855/855+ device with high refresh rate would have been amazing too.
LG should make up their mind if they want to simplify their product segments by releasing least number of devices, or cater to all audience by releasing multiple products with 'actual differences' than the half baked system of releasing dumb S/X/4G/5G versions.

AnonD-492870, 28 Jul 2020So this one with or without the DAC? Without.
Only V60 has quad dac this time (albeit better version with the new ES9219)
You'd be better off buying the older V50 at this price IMO.

If the phone would've had a 3x zoom telephoto camera and was at least a bit more optimized the phone could be great for that price...

Mixed feelings here, alecs are fine if it was cheaper (€500 is too much, but Saturn and Media Markt are known to ask above MSRP)
Why mixed? For €389 (at this moment) I can have the LG G8S in EU, sure it has much worse main camera than this phone but has the following pros and cons vs this LG.
G8S pros vs 4G Velvet
- Snapdragon 855
- OIS
- better 13mpx ultrawide
- 12mpx telephoto instead of depth sensor
- slightly more compact (6.21" vs 6.8")
- 4k 60 on main cam (EIS up to 4k 30)
- 1080p 60 front cam (but at lower res)
- rear fingerprint (because most under screen fingerprint sensors are slow, only some brands have very good ones)
- CHEAPER
But on the other side... Velvet 4G pros vs G8S
- bigger screen if you care about that
- bigger battery (but the G8S has even for such a small battery fine usage)
- better main camera resolution wise (48mpx vs 12mpx)
- higher resolution selfie cam (16mpx but 1080p 30 sadly)
And that is pretty much it, if the price drops to €300 or less then sure get it, but for €500 it is too much because the G8S is better and much cheaper and I don't even start about some other cheap 855 phones out there (One Plus 7 Pro is around same price, and the Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro is around €379 here)
So again Velvet 4G is fine, when much cheaper.

That's a better deal. 5G is mostly a gimmick right now (& will stay that way for the next 1-2 years), so you won't miss out on much by going for the 4G model.
Personally, I'd choose a 1-2 year old flagship SoC over a midrange SoC anyday.
More midrangers should offer this type of option regarding the choice of SoC.

I got a used LG G7+ for €250 and still got QC 4.0 Support and Quad DAC. But I guess dual screen is still pretty cool for that price. Well it depends on what you value the most I think.
