The sunrise gradient sure looks stunning, hopefully, the phone’s performance will be on par.

      I never understand why news/reviews seem to only show pics of the back of a phone these days. Surely its the screen that people want to see?

        It used to be the case when buyers were faced a choice between a premium mid-ranger and a budget flagship of similar prices, many buyers would select the phone with a flagship SoC. This trend seems changing, especially among female buyers.

        As an example, the best selling series at this very moment is NOVA 7 series, which is even selling better than the very popular Honor 30 series. NOVA 7 series is actually more expensive than many quality budget flagships, such as Redmi K30 Pro and several IQOO budget flagships.

          The primary selling point of vivo S7 is its design: thin (~7mm), light (~170g), and beautifully curved back. (It would be better if it comes with a curved front screen.)

          It seems that vivo is trying to address the issues raised in the recent "Smartphone supply-chain report regarding consumer's preference". According to this report, smartphone buyers' most cared and preferred features for 2020 smartphones are (in decreasing importance):
          1) 5G;
          2) Design: curved screen (especially 4-curved as in P40Pro), thin, light weight, AG finish;
          3) Camera.

          The surprising findings are:
          - Flagship SoC worship is fading. Decreased interests in "budget flagship phone" (flagship killer).
          - very small percentage of buyers actually care about the fast screen refresh rate (120Hz).

            Suraboi, 30 Jul 2020Why can't they follow the footsteps of Apple and the O... moreIf every company launches phones like Apple, we wouldn't have the variety of phones and at all different price points like we have today. Good luck finding a decent phone less than $700.

              Why can't they follow the footsteps of Apple and the OnePlus launch strategy? These Chinese companies mainly, Vivo, Xiaomi, and Realme are launching too many unnecessary smartphones month after month flooding the market with their junk. I think the world needs to form a governing body who manage and restrict these companies from launching unnecessary products.

                Sleek and neat. Love current vivo design.

                  "the company will not pierce the AMOLED panel"
                  "We know it will be an OLED screen and not LCD"
                  "S5 and S6 5G had AMOLED, so it is a safe bet that the S7 will follow suit"

                  It's contradicting, isn't it?

                    TunakTunak, 29 Jul 2020What is beautiful about this?I was thinking the same. It looks like every other phones out there. Is GSMArena being hypocrite? 🤔
