Anonymous, 30 Jul 2020Android without Google Play is useless for less tech-savy p... moreIn China, tech-savy people in general choose androd phones over iphones.

GMS (Google Mobile Service, including Google Play) has never had any relevance to the Chinese smartphone ecosystem since the very beginning. The whole Chinese smartphone ecosystem thrives in the total absence of GMS. On top of that, stock Android OS is really disliked in China, which is part of the reason why OnePlus never truly takes off, although OnePlus still sells more in China than in any other market. The Hydrogen OS, the Oxygen OS equivalent in OnePlus' domestic market, will be replaced by Color OS.

Anonymous, 30 Jul 2020Perhaps its cheaper there.! id go it also if i wasn't ... moreNo, iphones are more expensive in China than they are in USA, without considering any carrier subsidies.

Most of the iphones sold in USA with carrier subsidies. There is no comparable carrier subsidies in China. Taking "carrier subsidies" into account, iphones cost nearly twice as much in China than they are in USA.

And china also witnessed 225 % increase in power bank sales 😁

How you android people don't understand simple concept about some people preferring smaller phones? People who buy SE clearly want small compact phone, they don't care huge brick like oneplus nord. https://mla8pj0ri3x0.i.optimole.com/GhrN-pw-wtQ-ZAue/w:1024/h:576/q:auto/https://www.mobileteknews.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/Oneplus-nord-vs-iphone-se-2020-comparison-1.jpg

Always when android people talk about SE they tell about these huge phones to buy instead, which is just silly. If you are interested about iPhone SE you clearly want compact size phone.

RejZoR, 30 Jul 2020It's not sour grapes, it's shitty reality unfortu... moreWell, Google and One Plus offer 3 years of support. Also, flagship Android phones receive 3 years of Security updates.
Regarding the spying thing, yeah you are right Google is bad, but I think in this times, every company is spying the people in one way or another. The minute you've entered the internet, no matter through which app, ecosystem or account, your data is collected. Period.
Regarding the software updates on Android you are 100% right. They are really really bad, and also not consistent between devices. I remember when i had my S9+, other people I knew with Sony or Huawei flagship or some people with Note 9 phones, received Android 9. Me no. I had to wait another 2 months for the software to roll out on my S9+ (unlocked phone btw), I was so frustrated. That was on of the reasons I left Android for IOS.

Yeah, of course, Android fanboys will come now and say software is not that important, flexibility is more important, etc. But for me no. What is the fun in having everything unlocked on your phone, so much flexibility, if the experience is bad? Smooth use and longevity in software support is more important for me. Also, like you said the fact that all the iphone models that are eligible for that particular software update will receive it at the same time is amazing for me.
And IOS is no longer so closed like it was 2-3 years ago. A lot of things can be done now on iphone/ipad (and I am not talking widgets). You can connect external devices, they have unblocked keyboard and mouse support for ipads (yeah, you can actually game with keyboard and mouse on an ipad, like you would with a PC). And with the changes in MacBooks processors, from Intel to Apple chipsets, the relations between iphone-ipad-macbook will be perfect. Practically you can use any iphone/ipad application to your macbook or iMac. And vice versa.

Most of the time, the updates don't do anything but introduce bugs and slows down the phone. I hardly updated the phone when I was on iOS except to a newer version when apps stopped working.

Anonymous, 30 Jul 2020What’s up with all the Android sour grapes in this comment ... moreIt's not sour grapes, it's shitty reality unfortunately (I've been on Android from Eiclar to Pie btw). Pathetic software support with Android is what made me ditch Android and go with Apple. Google being spying cancer was just a cherry on top for that decision.

Seeing how basically all iPhones reliably get 5 years of software updates, on the day it's released, that in itself adds huge value to the device as far as I'm concerned. Unlike Android where 2 years is all you get (if lucky!) and you always have to wait for months for each individual vendor to update the damn thing. Even if they use almost stock ROM. That's just pathetic. With iOS, if I see there was an update in the tech news, if I check for update, it'll be there. That exact moment. On Android, I had to wait and ask on communities when the update is suppose to drop and when there is a date and you again don't get it and realize it's because it's regional release and you're gonna have to wait few more weeks, I had enough of that crap. And I'm now at a point where it's unlikely I'll ever return to Android phones no matter what happens. Updating is still terrible and Google is still cancerous. Even if Google improves updating by forcing everyone to use their stock ROM, that just means even more Google's spying crap right in each device. So, yeah. There's that unfortunately. Apple is selling devices and services. Google is selling YOU. There is no way going around that fact.

Still nowhere near the longevity and smooth usability of the iphones. I have an iphone SE 2016 model with the latest IOS 13.6 on it. I really am amazed of how this phone can work. And I am even playing games on it with an Xbox One controller (connected to a TV through HDMI cable).
And this model will receive IOS 14. This is like saying a Samsung S7 will receive Android 11 and it will work super smooth on it. Yeah right, ha ha ha, that will be the day. lol.
