Anonymous, 07 Aug 2020This phone would be something if only P30 would not exist. ... moreThe P30 is just a compromised older phone at a discounted price that lacks security and has likely no further updates so no future of any kind.
Still I agree that some huawei flagships like the P30s and the mate 30s are superb phones with incredible build quality,

This phone would be something if only P30 would not exist. But the P30 does exist since March 2019 and it's better in every way, particularly when it comes to the CPU. Kirin 980 simply flies and I have no doubt it's in a different class than 4a's CPU. No, 4a's camera is not better and P30 might have less prompt security updates but it's still a better deal.

Anonymous, 04 Aug 2020Dumbo Google still have not learnt from their mistakes fro... moreyou wont find the battery issue with this phone. you can expect a 5.5-6 hrs SOT with this one easy. which is more than good enough.
other phones you talk of with 4000 mah are either in highly priced flagships or absolutely pathetic badly managed mid rangers. not to forget the small form factor of this phone. not everyone is a fan of big phones. moreover this seems to be directly in competition with the iphone se so had to be small and google then under cut the price by 50 usd.
understand the fundamentals and economics before making a comment so crude with such slangs. maybe a more polite criticism would have been more appreciated.
you wont get a phone as good as this at 350 usd. this will give you a flagship experience for sure if you dont play games excessively.

the processor seems to be as good as the sd835 of my pixel 2
correct me if im wrong
and the pixel 2 is as smooth as it can be even after using it for 2.5 yrs. barring the battery which has got spoilt after so long, which is ok.
so i dont think there would be any issue in the performance of the phone for a non gamer. i hope. 6gb ram, google's os, directly managed by google itself. dont think there should be any issue for 2yrs atleast im assuming.
really not even going to comment on the camera. best for sure.
if only they hadnt waited 2 months before launching it here in india. better late than never. dint even get to enjoy the pixel 4. wont get to enjoy 4a 5g or 5 5g either.

Dumbo Google still have not learnt from their mistakes from the past that most people complained about Pixel 4 i.e. pathehic battery life....seriously just how difficult it is to put a larger battery of at least 4000mah by today's standard, for that I am not going to buy this as many of us hate looking for a charger halfway through the day!
No matter how good the fone is, if it does not last a FULL DAY then it is just useless to me.

What you guys spec who re keep comparing this phone to other phones, like the nord, Poco, realme etc2 not getting is that , for anyone who wants a compact phone with clean stock android, there's really only this phone and last year's pixel 4 as their option. With pixel 4 battery being so bad, the 4a is the perfect phone for them. For me, I much prefer this phone than oversized slippery glass sandwich with heavy skin & bloatwares

ASUS ROG Phone 3, 04 Aug 2020Hope it kills sales of upcoming iPhones in Western markets.... moreWhy dude? Why do you care if apple sells or not their stuff? And the pixel and the smaller iphones here already and upcoming are very different phones, the pixel looks as a cheap phone and the reliability of pixels have not been on par with iphones to say the least. In any case it could prevent some android users looking for a small phone to crossover to iOS.

Hope it kills sales of upcoming iPhones in Western markets. Other than that there is no use for this in any other markets. Too late too little to get excited about!

Few points people keep mentioning and that's bugging me:
1. Stock android: NO, pixel's OS is not stock android.
2. GCam: Last i tried, GCam doesn't work consistently across devices. For some phones, result is inconsistent/unimpressive and for some phones, it crashes.
3. Non expandable storage: The phone already has 128 GB and you guys are still complaining. You should ask people who got previous gens, or other phones costing above 700$ with similar or less storage with no expandable option.
4. Small battery: NO you are wrong, the battery might be small but it will still give a day's usage without any issue, unless you are doing gaming or continuously watching videos or browsing. For most people, that's more than enough.
If you want to criticize something, at least don't do it blindly. Also, please don't compare them to chinese phones in the price range, their camera quality is not at all on par. You can watch latest youtube videos comparing 4a and Nord and you will have your answer.
Every phone will have its drawbacks, but the question is, does it tick all the right boxes for YOU at the given price. For me, it does.

Anonymous, 04 Aug 2020Come on dude, you get a pixel phone for the camera, your A7... moreExactly! The Pixel does not even compete with the A71, as it is much more compact than the Samsung. 128GB is plenty and more than enough for probably the majority of people.

Anonymous, 04 Aug 2020I agree. The A71 costs around the same as this overpriced P... moreCome on dude, you get a pixel phone for the camera, your A71 don't have OIS and no matter what hacked GCAM you are running is never going to be the same, battery is not an issue because the display is so much smaller and 128GB if storage is just fine for 95% of people, if the phone had 16 GB of storage I would be worried but it's not the case, I can't even top the storage of my 64 gb phone.
The 4a has a nice size for my use and doesn't feature that ridiculous rainbow color, it's great to have choice, you can keep your samsung phone, it's a good phone but I would prefer this one, I am just glad to have a choice and not be forced to get a big phone.

To those of you mentioning the gcam ports, it's not the same. The quality is not the same, there's no optimization, and there are often crashes and hangups. I am using a gcam port on Nokia 7 Plus with Android 10 and everything besides the simple "photograph" mode is crashing the app.
