If like me you upload all you music & dont subscribe to GPM, we are being forced to subscribe to YTM, as google Home speakers dont really work without a subscription, as you cannot even skip to the next track even though its my own uploaded music. Also cannot play your music if screen turnes off. Disgraceful.

Then what music player am I going to use? Google Play Music is the only player I have. Can you guys recommend me the best available music player on Android? Is Poweramp still the all time best music player?

Google Play Music shutting down is a good thing for me as I never used it but what if I don't want to use YT Music either? Hope it's removable from the system. I don't want it to be mandatory bloatware embedded into the system.

Useless app for me anyway, I always disable it. I always store my songs and music locally in SD card and use other program. I don't like streaming music which uses internet connection and makes me lose data (no wifi here). I use Musicolet as my default music player.

How to move your music from Google Play Music to YouTube Music
1. Download the YouTube music app, for iOS or Android. (Or, to do it from a desktop, go to music.youtube.com/transfer, and click transfer.)
2. You'll see a transfer button at the top of the screen in both Google Play Music and YouTube Music. Tap it from either app, and your uploads, purchases, added songs and albums, personal and subscribed playlists, likes and dislikes, curated stations and personal taste preferences will all start moving from Google Play Music to YouTube Music.
3. Depending on how much music is in your library, the move could take up to a few hours. You can close the app and use your phone in the meantime, and open it back up to track the progress if you want to. You'll get a notification and an email when your music library transfer is complete.
4. Open YouTube Music and find your music in the Library tab, along with updated recommendations.
If you listen to podcasts on Google Play Music, you can also transfer your subscriptions and episode progress to Google Podcasts by going to podcasts.google.com/transfer.

Jayanth, 05 Aug 2020When companies shut down application, they also need to mak... moreIt is easily possible, yes of course not possible if you go through settings app, you just need to connect your phone, access to ADB and write only half of a line in supposed CMD page, and you will never see those bloatwares again.
Same for Xiaomi ads, and people still cry because they cannot search Google for articles by themselves...

you can easily remove bloatwares without root just by using CMD codes, i had 6 phones and only two of them are rooted and thats just because they are old, removed bloatwares for other phones just with typing some codes.

Its good that its being shut down and I suppose it should be replaced with Spotify as YouTube Music has no annual membership plans

If you don't root your Android device, the only thing you can do with pre-installed app is just Disable it and that's it. I did tried uninstalling pre-installed app without rooting before, but it always never worked.

I did tried out YouTube Music for quite a while to see what's good about it, and ummm... no thanks. I'll stay with Spotify.
