Ruwin, 29 Jun 2012You are talking about Nokia phones that are already out the... moreYou missed my point: current Windows phones are apparently DESIGNED to be obsolete - I cannot say this for certain but there are rumours floating here that Microsoft dictated the hardware of current Windows Phones - they certainly aren't in the same league as Android, Symbian and iOS phones in terms of future-proofing.
All I'm saying is, there is virtually NO point in getting a WP7, then what happens if we get an expensive new WP8 and Microsoft decide to stop supporting it? This means you could be in a situation where there are NEVER any new apps that work with your phone - you are stuck with the current crop of apps, and WP, while catching up pretty well, is not exactly over-burdened with apps compared to Android at the moment. At least with Android, you will be able to run hundreds of thousands of apps, so it may not always matter if you can't get hold of some new apps.

Apple put out the best smartphone of its kind with the iphone - even now the 3gs is relatively competitive against the crappier Androids - and everyone else took forever to catch up. On the other hand, anything that's expensive will sell in the UK and USA (where Apple is popular) because there's a kind of weird snobbery in their cultures which means they have to be seen to be spending more.

Thanks again.
When I say, "a card", I mean, &q... moreto removable card is not really a CE problem because WM6.5 and older also use CE core.
RAID was done to fix a problem CE has of running out of internal storage if not well managed by the user. and that caused most of the crashing.
MS decided that a RAID 0 would allow a cheap SD to fix the internal space problem. thinking if you need more spaces just reset your phone with a bigger SD. phone makers didn't see it that way.
so now comes WP8 and MS has finaly dumped CE for windows NT.
and i say...... what took them so long :)

Anthony, 29 Jun 2012You still don’t get it
WP7 dose support card.
It integr... more
Thanks again.
When I say, "a card", I mean, "a removable strage card".
Un-removable starge card locked inside the phone is obviously out of question.
So, natually when I say, "the WP7 does not support a card", I mean this, "the WP7 does not support a removable strage card".
(Please don't say this, "it's removable if you're willing to take apart the phone". It's obivously out of question here)
So, once again, my question was more like this.
In order to support a removable card, in order to move away from a RAID 0 formatting, it has to be the Windows NT core!?
(The portability is the another issues here, which I don't care right now)
The Windows CE has to be a RAID 0 formatting!? and therefore can not support a removable strage.
Is that what you're telling me?
Either way, they chose the OS which can not support a removable strage card.
That's exactly what my point was.
P.S.
In fact, I'm googling.
Thanks for your time anyway. I appreciate.

Gates, 29 Jun 2012You are talking about Nokia phones that are already out the... moreSamsung Galaxy I8250(Released june 2012), Samsung I8530 Galaxy Beam Dual-core 1 GHz Cortex-A9 (Coming soon), Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 Dual-core 800 MHz(released may 2012), Samsung I9070 Galaxy S Advance Dual-core 1 GHz Cortex-A9(Release April 2012), Samsung Exhilarate i577 Dual-core 1.2 GHz(Coming soon) and the list is going on...
Whoz gonna buy these just released or to be released samsung phones, if you know that it's already shipping with a dated os and cannot be upgradable to the already released ics and to get the new os (ICS) you have to buy a new phone? Oh! there is already another os version released, no? You think people who buy or will buy these phones are idiots? If you think so, you are a downright idiot.
Good try though..
Whenever I see android fans basing ms or nokia and their strategies, I feel something special. I sense they are threatened and their angry that nokia didn't partner with google. These are the reasons for the amount of trolls every ms or nokia news receiving.
I can say one think!
"If you are on the peak of a mountain you can go no more higher than that point. Either you have to hold your ground or walk downwards. But for a person who stands at the bottom(or somewhere in the middle) of that mountain, there is a lot to climb and chance to reach the top."
Remember the days when yahoo was on the top. Now where it is. Google may be at the top today. But that doesn't means it will hold that position forever. (That no one can predict)

Thanks. Now I understand why the WP7 can not have a card ... moreYou still don’t get it
WP7 dose support card.
It integrates the cards with the internal memory using RAID 0
so the phone thinks all the storage is one big internal storage.
That is what I meant by cheap storage (phones thinking cheap SD cards that are in a RAID 0 are really are a large ROM chip that is costly.)
But if the card was remove from the raid when being used all data would be corrupted. Because it would be like part of your ROM chip got removed.
To prevent this from happening because some users are stupid….. the manufactures that still decided to use SD cards made it that you have to take apart the phone to change the Card which would force you to re flash your ROM anyway.
Something only a small % of people are willing to do.
After many complaints about not having independent removable storage it was brought back in WP8 they moved away from RAID 0 formatting and also changed to a Windows NT core making is possible for programmers to easily port programs from your desktop PC which also use a windows NT core.
WP7 was based on windows CE core which is not the windows you would find on your PC.
The changes were made for good reason but still people choose to be ignorant and complain.
You need to google and read up on what RAID 0 and RAID 1 is and as you are there read up on windows CE vs NT.

Anthony, 29 Jun 2012 To answer your question
WP7 OS was done so that interna... more
Thanks. Now I understand why the WP7 can not have a card slot.
But, actually, my question was more like, whether they support a card slot
or not is, a matter of choice, isn't it!?
Once they chose such a memory management in order to maximize the strage usage for the user, it's impossible to support a card slot. But, they certainly can choose to support a card slot for the user too, right!?
In deed, they chose not to support a card slot once in the WP7. And then, they brought it back in the WP8.
Whatever the reason was that, seems to me, they've planned all along.
In this sense, someone mush have done a good marketing jobs.

king koopa, 29 Jun 2012aren't feature phones are flagship smartphones?OMG
to answer you question king koopa
A feature phone and a smart phone is not the same thing.
The main thing that makes a smartphone a smart phone is it has an OS just like how a PC or a MAC dose. Programmes write apps that works based on the OS capability and not any particular brand device or model.
A feature phone may have the same features as a smart phone but all its apps have to be made to match the device and model. Because of this software development of feature phones is much slower.
Some feature phones don’t even have what you would call an OS
And example of smart vs feature in other devices you may understand is gaming.
Xbox & Play Station would be considered feature devices as the games a made with the device in mind.
PC would be considered smart because the games are made with the OS in mind and would work on any brand/model PC that had the right hardware.
Hope you understand.

Could you kindly enlighten me why the WP7 can not have a ... more To answer your question
WP7 OS was done so that internal memory and external memory would format them self in a RADE 0 format to increase read/write speed and maximize cheap storage space for the user.
But if you know how data is stored in RADE 0, you would know removing a SD that is part of that RADE would totally corrupt all data, not just what was on the card. Because of this most manufactures decided against putting user replaceable memory on there phones.
Some phones like the HTC HD7 have SD cards but it’s not in a slot to make it user swappable.
WP8 has brought back the use of mass storage card which was a part of WM6.5 and earlier but seeing that no WP7 phone has a card slot what would they benefit from that to them?
That is why there is a WP7.8 coming out. It is to give the WP7 phone the features of WP8 that they have the hardware to use. And to leave out the stuff that would not work due to missing hardware.
