    You are talking about Nokia phones that are already out there. Did you ever think about HOW THE FRACK SHOULD WP8 WORK ON LUMIA 800? WP8 improvements require specific hardware. Lumias don't have that! So upgrading Lumias to WP8 would be the same as upgrading to WP7.8. And consider that MS is not releasing an OS every year like Apple or Google. This means the Lumias will be supported for at least another full year!

    Who cares how often Apple releasing OS, if you can use it on 2 years old devices.
    But MS did "great" job. Who gonna buy Nokia if you know that soon there's going to be new version of OS and you will need new phone for that?

      Microsoft seems to be really going all in for their WP8 launch. I can't wait to try out the new models that come out this fall.

                  I have a HTC HD2 running both WM6.5 and Android
                  And I didn’t run out the get WP7 because I didn’t see the benefits to me.
                  But now WP8 has same core as W8 for the PC and support for Trinidad & Tobago in the Market place
                  Along with…
                  Integrated FB, skype, MSchat, SD card, multi tasking
                  I have made up my mind to get a WP8 phone as an upgrade to my HTC HD2
                  Ill get a next HTC or even a Nokia, all depend on what hardware these 2 come out with.

                  Its good to wait and not rush and buy everything knew that hits the shelf.

                          Actually most people bought Apple products just for the bragging right, that they can afford it. When they're left alone the most action that macbook is gonna get is just Facebook. Lol.

                            Support of the OS is not carried over to older phones only when the OS has features that require hardware not available on the phone. It is that way no mater if the OS is window, iOS, Android, Back Berry. So don’t be stupid.
                            WP7 phones are…
                            single core
                            low res
                            no SD slot
                            no NFC chip
                            SO a WP7 phone running WP7.8 or a ported WP8 would be the same.
                            So stop being a baby. Every one that bought a WP7 phone knew the hardware was behind the times. Did you really think MS was going to leave it like that forever if they wanted to keep up with technology?

                            WP8 phones are now getting hardware that are up to scratch to industry standards so there is no reason if WP9 came out at the end of 2013 a WP8 phone could not get it. Provided that there are no major hardware advancements in that time.

                            It all depends on hardware technology
                            When WM came out, there were no capacitive screens.
                            With the creation of capacitive screens it meant no WM phone from WM2003 to 6.5 could upgrade to WP7 which used the capacitive screen technology

                            Its not always good to rush to be first to buy devices when you know there are upgrades to come out and what you are rushing to buy is not up to scratch in the hardware department. This is a lesson that some people just like to be ignorant to, rather than learn from there mistakes. Only to make the same mistake again when they rush to buy the next BIG THING.

                            Don’t be angry with MS because you bought something that didn’t meet your needs.
                            Do you think a 1st or 2nd gen iPhone can run iOS 6? The hardware needs of the OS would not allow it. Don’t be foolish.

                            Technology improves at a rapid rate. If you want to say stagnant then you should stick to feature phone and forget smartphones. Feature phone improve at a speed more to your liking.

                                Woohoo! WP is set to kill Android in more countries. Android's dominance is about to come to a fiery crash and Nokia will be spearheading the way.
