The concept of transparent TVs sounds absurd but this actually has great pixels. Plus powered by mediatek so that'll be good

Any word on whether this has a polarizer and LCD layer on the back (think cheap quartz clock screens) to improve viewing when not in 'show off' mode?

What is the use? I think its of no use..... I would prefer more sharper, realistic, bright images on my tv rather than watching wall behind the tv. Something like Sony OLED in frame like samsung frame tv. That would be perfect for me.

Anonymous, 12 Aug 2020So why LG itself not selling this?To reduce their risk? They talked Xiaomi into buying and using the panels, pocketed their money, and don't even need the TV to sell. If there does turn out to be a consumer market they can come out with their own production unit soon enough.

xgman, 12 Aug 2020cool, but mostly useless as a normal tv or monitor. we can use it as a big transparent widget screen showing weather, clocks, dates, etc in our living room :D

Transparent screens make no sense, transparency in a screen is a disadvantage. I've always seen them in SF movies and never understood their utility, they make the content harder to distinguish.

Capacitive touch screens were already there.
Ecosystem of different apps like for Palm OS were already there.
All other tech inside was already available.
Apple just put it together and mass produced it.
