if nokia decides to go android htc and samsung can kiss their market lead good bye, expecially if they market things like pureview technology & nokia maps as nokia specific, only those two things would be enough to swing a major heft of people over to their side

AnonD-14398, 03 Jul 2012Nokia has a backup plan when Windows Phone 8 fails....bankr... moreNo. MS wouldn't lett'em go bankrupt snce that would damage MS's own image. They would (and have been willing to) buy Nokia and make it formally a MS division.

I will never buy Nokia with android.
I like WP in Nokia. Because I want all of my device work togather and that is only possible with windows. And I am Nokia fan.

AnonD-54125, 03 Jul 2012i'm talking about proposed features and capabilities...
... moreThe proposed features do look promising but it still has to prove itself n give users solid performance in order to switch.
If wp 8 can have both fluidity n power then i'll also say "shut up ! And take my money" especially for a wp 8 lumia.

Given Flop's record to date probably RIM, assuming they license the OS to them!! It would be like shifting deckchairs around on the Titanic. No no, that is not water around your neck. Don't worry about that sinking feeling.

I would like to see variety in the phone market regarding OS's and seeing how Nokia is the only thing Windows has got going for it - it is vital that Nokia sticks with Microsoft and makes it work. Android, Windows Phone, and iOS are the only 3 OS's I see standing in the long run (hopefully iOS gets taken out of that equasion)- BlackBerryOS, Bada, Symbian, and Meego not so much.

AnonD-54125, 03 Jul 2012f android. i will lose ALL respect for nokia if it gets and... moreConcur regarding the Android Lag. Look at 2 most powerful Android phones (One X & Galaxy S3) and both have hundreds of people complaining on forums about the lag.
I have a Galaxy S3 - I love it but the screen redraw is hugely depressing. If they can't fix lag on a quad-core phone what are they playing at?
In contrast when I had the Lumia 800 for a short period of time, absolutely flawless operation. Zero lag.

Nothing Is better Than MAEMO 5 but Nokias top management is full of stone heads who can't think in the right direction. MeeGo is 2 years Old opesting systems which still competes with all other OS. think the future if Nokia would have hanged on with MAEMO & MEEGO

In case of failure with WP8, Nokia should go with MeeGo. That OS has so much potential and I can confirm that because I've had an opportunity to play with Nokia N9 a bit. Symbian is good and it made a lot of progress, but it still needs to catch up with the leading OS's

AnonD-56684, 03 Jul 2012Wp 8 > JB ?... Lets wait for wp 8 powered phones to hit ... morei'm talking about proposed features and capabilities...
from what they announced, wp8 seems to be the most capable os to come. up to 64cores, vector scaling, directx, windows nt kernel. this means a lot. and as an amateur developer this is quite intriguing. i hope it works
jelly bean just seems to make up for the limitations of current android. another problem will be implementation. only 10% of android is ics. that is quite sad. that is the fragmentation that developers hate.
like i said, i'm using windows 8 right now and i love the apps, so if they can be easily ported over to windows phone 8 i will definitely buy it

Btw, Android ICS is compatible with Nokia N9. But why not produce smartphones with Android as well. Nokia will get much more money if they can manage how they build and design their Android phones properly. Windows may have a high potential but Android already has that potential so I think brands (not just Nokia) should have both.
