A nice high-end Nokia with Android would be sweet but I guess highly payed executives are smarter than me...

I think nokia should produce all OS.such as symbian, Meego, window phone, S40 ,Android. And firefox OS. And the result let's the customer decided. With a good hardware nokia will win the competition. Cheers.

Most of the people think nokia will again choose symbian, but it is not possible.because nokia chairman said,"we never go for symbian again, because its market share almost close to zero"so i think nokia again start to develop meego or choose android for smartphone, symbian for r&d to develop mobiles like 808,the only os support upto 41 mp,wp only 20mp,android now only upto 12mp,ios now only upto 8mp.any all the best NOKIA.

Elop needs to remove Risto Siilasmaa for even suggesting this. They don't need a backup plan because people want Windows Phones.

Elop had to fire a few directors before for not believing in Windows Phones.
As Nokia Fans, we have always been behind him.
          Smoked by Windows phone!

anonymous, 03 Jul 2012I have a Sony Arc Android phone. It is full of bugs. 1.) I... moreWow wait, I said that I hate Android, the requirements are too damn high -.- nokia should've gone meego and symbian all the way, It's their identity... Or maybe they could also try that cloud OS they've planned before.

I guess, nokia should focus more on improving the symbian and mer project rather than to move to andriod... after all symbian is one of the oldest smartphone OS.... and I still think, there is still a possiblity for a symbian to regain its old state....

Andriod is good but Nokia should be loyal to her own child.

Nokia should have joined Android right from the beginning and will survive for sure, Win OS which I have doubt to have much sucess at all. I hope it won"t be like another Blackberry story when it is too late to make any change before the brand sink deep into neverland.

"Backup plan" = sell-out to Microsoft

                    Unacceptable. More layoffs.

Microsoft needs a hardware division to compete in the cloud.

                      WP7.8 / WP8 = fragmentation ...this early???

Please Nokia either revive Symbian or go android with a unique Nokia-Symbian launcher. We still love your hardware and it does not deserve to be spoiled by Microsoft. only reason Symbian is failing is because Nokia neglected it. As 808 PureView proves, Symbian can still win a lot of Nokia fans IF given support.

If Nokia ever decided to grow a set of ballas and offer just 1 high end handset that had Anroid OS they its pretty much game over for the likes of HTC, Sony, and RIM, Samsung, LG and Apple will survive as they have their own focus customer base in their home countries as do Motorola Mobility.

WP7, 7.5 and 7.8 have proved one thing, Microsoft should dtay in the PC OS system, WP8 will be a fail also, Nokia probably knows that but were stuck with an out of date OS in Symbian (now Nokia OS) and MeeGo needed large amounts of money for R&D and Intel are not that keen hence passing it over to Samsung to merge bada and MeeGo in Tizen (which will also fail but the hardcore developer groups will use pretty much like how Linux PC OS is used).

At the end of the day if Nokia went Android OS as i said above its game over, Nokia will be king again but at the moment that only see $$$ being thrown at them by Microsoft, which is a shame as for example the Lumia 900 would be a kick asss device if it had Android ICS 4.0.4 on it instead of stale and crap WP7.5/8

I'm a guy who just wants a "good phone" - not something that makes me stay online all day and not something I can get for pennies. Must have real keys (but I'd be willing to lose them for, say, a 41 MP camera). Also, when a few people I know saw what I can do with 369 MHz and their cheap Androids with 600-800 can't they felt... hmmm, you can guess. :-)
