DreamzSolution, 13 Aug 2020I wouldnt say it's a gamble, otherwise that term would... moreit is complete gamble as this device will not have any productivity advantage of simple 6.7 inch smartphone. Same shit, microsoft is trying to cash out from foldable smartphone game, but offering garbage smartphpne for foldable price, there is no defense in this case it is completely bold move

Please put away this abomination, it hurt my eyes just to read it. Microsoft says wow lets play foldable phone games, lets glue two screens together make a hinge and sell it for real foldable price, wow genius :D

DreamzSolution, 13 Aug 2020I wouldnt say it's a gamble, otherwise that term would... moreSice LG is using this tech for a some time, it's really hard to claim M$ is doing something different - LG solution is at least cheaper, having better cams, some resistance to dust/water/drop, headphone jack etc.
+ It's not full of M$ bloatware :D

I see trying to fit somewhere between the LG G8X and the Samsung Galaxy Fold. A year later than those products, lacking features, and priced well above the Samsung Galaxy Fold.
This reminds me of the first Surface devices, lower specs than their peers at a higher premium, with more of a novelty product placement than a mass produced consumer device.
I do like the transformer style devices to a larger relative screen size, and will look forward to what the next Surface Duo brings. This being v0.80 is a good starting point.
One could say that they are pretty close to the Microsoft Courier (phone) of 2010, which I wished they did bring to the market at that time.

I wouldnt say it's a gamble, otherwise that term would apply to most devices. If anything Surface Duo actually provides something somewhat different.
Its clear purpose is mostly for people who want to be productive on the go without having to pull out their laptop or go to their PC and the Duo looks perfectly suited for that.
It doesn't focus on camera, wireless charging or any of that; it simply focuses on form factor and functionality for productivity.
I generally use two phones (private and work). Now I can actually have a phone that's productive and a phone that's great for imaging.
That said, price is a bit steep. $1000 would have been a sweet spot, especially considering only the bumper is included.

Be careful about "Microsoft Surface Duo" Microsoft has already kill it. I have my 950 XL dead and not yet buried, stay away from this product and use the money for orphans.

MagicMonkeyBoy, 13 Aug 2020Don't underestimate the 855 and definitely not the 855... moreI do not think anyone is underestimating Snap 855 TBH, I feel like most of the people belive MS will just release another fail that will be swiftly taken off the market and forgoten.
You can say M$ does not have a good track record when it comes to software or phone market in general.
IMHO it take a real courage or leap of faith to buy Duo, IMHO it's gamble at best.

$1,499 for 256GB? Surface Duo or Surface Pro 7 16GB RAM? I know which one I'll take, and it's not the one running that certain Alphabet's mobile OS.

Dear GSMARENA.
Please don't call it a Foldable phone....its screen is not foldable.
You may call it mirror screen phone / dual screen phone / twin screen phone.
But no means its a Foldable one.
Thank you

A single-camera from 2012
Horrible 3550mAh battery
Missing any external screen
SD 855
Thick bezels
Single mono speaker
Regular 60hz screen
Only 6g of RAM
No WiFi 6
No NFC
No Wireless charging
No 5G
With these outdated specs, it shouldn't be priced over $800.
How many months before Microsoft kill it?

I have mixed feelings about this. On the one hand, it's made by Microsoft, one of the greatest tech companies in the world. On the other hand, it doesn't look very good. The specs are a generation behind and it looks like two tablets stuck together. I'm just not sure what it's for.
