It's highly unlikely that you'd be affected by it security, though.

[deleted post]Nothing to do with the chips. Huawei probably has the best communications tech a.k.a. tower. They even built a 5G tower at the summit or basecamp of Mount Everest if I'm not mistaken.

          [deleted post]Thanks 👍

Samath N8 808 owner, 14 Aug 2020This could be true, but what about exynos? In the queue next...

[deleted post]This could be true, but what about exynos?

Let me guess? Things only NSA should have access to? Things to make you upgrade to the latest and greatest?

We're doomed. Our privacy is doomed.
Despite all the diplomacy we're trying to maintain, the truth is today's customer isn't any powerful.. nor united enough to create an impact.

Even people who don't have any relation with US are spied upon.

Thank god I don't use Snapdragon, last time I used it when I bought Sony Xperia Z2 6~7 years ago.

I currently use Huawei with Kirin processor (rooted, as I always root to remove google bloats)

I'm heading to upgrade to the upcoming Mate 40 Pro. But as we know it'll be the last flagship with Kirin processor.. after that I still have choices whether to stay with the Mate 40 for a few years until Kirin returns with SMIC or whatever chipsets or go to alternatives like Mediatek's Dimensity or Samsung's Exynos.

Anonymous, 14 Aug 2020Because company H from country C has had their equipment an... more*on demand from country A.

                    fixed that for you.

Anonymous, 14 Aug 2020And how would you know that company H or any other company ... moreyou do realise that's the problem with USA, right?
it's because they forced their USA companies to install backdoor, thus they ASSUME everybody else in the world will do the same
despite Huawei publicly saying they do not have backdoor, and having so many covert agencies to scrutinise Huawei, these agencies still cannot come out with proof of Huawei backdoor after so many years

The average consumer cares less about these things.
No hacker is going to target a specific guy using this security hole.

Anonymous, 14 Aug 2020And how would you know that company H or any other company ... moreBecause company H from country C has had their equipment and source code reviewed by country GB and nothing was found. Country GB still banned equipment from company H on request from country A.

Andreidinutu, 13 Aug 2020Sorry but this is 1 week old news. SeriouslyYou should look at Android Authority if you want punctually reported news, including Apple news (which I do not expect). Many of their news are also less biased.

40% has an affected phone. A low single digit percentage of those will ever see a security patch for this due to the Open Handset Cartel setup.
I have two Qualcomm phones and I know one of them will never get this patch even though that phone is less than 2 years old.
