I guess making 1000 euro full-plastic “flagship” phones with a gimped chip wasn’t profitable enough. And now they will charge 1200 euros too for the exact same thing because of relocation costs.

Anonymous, 17 Aug 2020Yes because samsung and its exynos plastic 4G phones for 10... moreThose Chinese brands have a bad business model. Not saying that Samsung or Apple are perfect companies, but I would rather trust them, than Xiaomi or Realme for example.

Just because Xiaomi and Realme are putting on market tens and tens of models with cheap prices, doesn't mean that all of them are also good. And which ones are good, which ones are bad? You don't know. You go on YouTube, you read articles on internet and you end up with a bad device, because people get paid to lie about them.
Plus, that goes to show you how much this companies care about its costumers. A company who releases so many products monthly, is not thinking of updating all of them. They just put them on the market and maybe if you get lucky you receive 1 software update.

Anonymous, 17 Aug 2020dont buy thenAlready Korean companies have very strong manufacturing base, experience in various business like Automobiles (Hyundai exports quality vehicles and the past 10 years or more they started charging premium for all cars made in India) , home appliances, electricals etc..,,,

The big reason for this move is HUGE financial package offered by India which can only be ignored by fools who have no familiarity in operating in this region fortunately., Samsung, LG, Hyundai, Foxconn etc trying to make use of the most..

[deleted post]Why would the quality drop ? Samsung already has the world's largest mobile factory in India since 2018, & there have been no quality issues in the A-series & M-series phones produced there( https://news.samsung.com/in/samsung-inaugurates-worlds-largest-mobile-factory-in-india )
It's not like Chinese are born with a special talent to make phones. They were able to provide cost-effective labour & good supply chain to Samsung. Other countries can do it too. The problem that Samsung faced in China was theft of technology by Chinese companies(eg. https://www.sammobile.com/news/samsung-china-oled-theft-arrests-charges ). So, next time get rid of your prejudices before you make such comments.

why only $200 phones, why not flagships?
is it due to low market for their mid range in India as other companies have far better phones in those range.

Berserker, 17 Aug 2020May I know what phones have you used in the last couple of ... moreToo many of them. Almost all companies, except One Plus and Google Pixel.
I can tell you what phones I had in the last 3-4 years (this are the ones I remember):
Samsung A5 2016, Asus Zenfone 3 Max, Huawei P10 Lite, Huawei P10, Samsung S9+, Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite, Nokia 7 Plus, iphone 8 Plus, Samsung A20e, Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro, iphone SE 2016 (current phone). Exactly in this order.
                Why?

"The majority of phones made in India with the price above $200 (Rs. 15,000) will be exported."

Then they should just make cheap phones only in India.
Above $200, should make somewhere else.

Samsung mobile market share in China is less than 2% so it better to run away from there.

They could start providing silicon Case in box and reduce ph spares to sensible level!

Once Samsung move is completely done, India will ban all Chinese companies from manufacturing and selling their phones in India. Samsung is the only company that can replace Chinese firms. India will also support local brands to rise and fill the void left by Chinese companies. Major blow for China is coming.
