Tokyo 2020 was going to be 8K.
But so far, none is using.

On another note, 8k is useless on phones. See that the bitrate they record in 8k is lower than the one they record in 4k with the stock camera app, to combat the huge space needed.
Also why on earth would you record in 8k, since almost no one has an 8k tv at home? Let alone an 8k phone to begin with?
Even the huge companies that make movies, only record in 8k to have their final results in 4k, for maximum quality.
You don't know what you are talking about here. Phone camera sensors cannot be compared to huge movie cameras, so 8k on them is a gimmick.
For example I have a phone with a 4k display yeah? Even so, I don't record in 4k unless it's a project or something. And remember I have a 4k display to play with, not your phone's outdated 2k+ oversaturated mess of a display.
Not an actual argument, just reminding you that I can be a fanboy too if I want. So enjoy what you like or have, without the toxicity.

You cannot do 8K with 12MP.
Also , the 8K offered by Samsung, LG and Xioami does not have better quality than 4K60 they do because of low bitrate.
Good 8K ahould be at least 250Mbps, not 70-100 like these phones.
Phones makers that use more than 24MP cameras, should offer 4K downsampled from 6K. It will look better than native 4K.

But no, 4K isn't "mastered" yet, especially on phones. There's still work to do to improve image quality.

Terrible sharing capabilities and low internal storage along with lack of expandable storage.
Lack of manual mode.
No 8k video.
Poor video quality through anything other than main sensor.
Ultrawide doesn't have autofocus.
Stabilization during running is poor.
How can this camera be best for video?
I realized this after switching to OP8 Pro from iPhone 11 pro Max.

What's up with the Huawei hate on this forum lately?
Huawei has been consistently launching impressive phones every year with some of the best camera tech along with fully competitive hardware. Dissing them just because they're Chinese makes you narrow-minded, nothing else.
As fans of tech, we should encourage good products (objectively), and discourage bad ones (constructively). The origin of the product shouldn't matter. Nor the brand name attached to that product. If we could do that, it would benefit us all.
