If you have zero experience using HRR with higher touch sampling rate, you shouldn't be commenting on how flagship screens with HRR feel as a daily driver.

Anonymous, 18 Aug 2020Of course 5ii does not have 4K screen. It is a 2nd tier p... moreCompletely agree. But I'm kind of surprise that after july patch, my xperia 1 could achieve 4 hourse 30 minutes screen on time (normal use, browsing, youtube wathcing, chatting, but no gaming though).whereas when i initially got the device in july 2019, i could barely touch 3 hours 30 mins SoT. So, I think the software will be optimized through updates and the phone itself learns about your using habit.

AgnisR, 18 Aug 2020You can clearly see camera module is just a badly cut photo... moreAgree, kind of obvious. And i have a feeling they'll skip the tof lens due to size (but i could be wrong)

My take on this:
Maybe it is the canceled 5 Plus and the case desing would still fit the final design of the phone when it gets announced. The flash for 5 plus was on the very top of the cameras and the cameras cut in these cases does have enough space for the flash to be included in the top. Manufacturers does not need to have the fine details for their cases AS LONG AS they are provided with dimensions they can use and fits the soon-to-be released/announced phone.
But I could be wrong. Time will tell.

You can clearly see camera module is just a badly cut photoshop from X1 mk II as a placeholder. Lenses doesn't even match the module itself.

Shanti Dope, 18 Aug 2020Okay seriously though, are there any content that I could u... moreI guess everyone has different tastes, I assume a lot of people switch back to 60Hz on their S20's to save the battery... On the other hand, I've had both FHD and QHD phone (HTC 10), and I really see much advantage of the QHD - as a matter of fact, whenever I used some app that ran at QHD, I just used the foreground optimization to lower the resolution to 1080p to improve framerate and battery life, so I guess I wouldn't be able to take advantage of the 4k resolution either.
But as I said before, I respect Sony for doing something different from the mainstream, and if there're people who are able to make good use of the 4k screen (and I'm sure there are such people), it's good that Sony makes a phone for them. I'm unfortunately not one of them but I'm still super excited for a compact flagship, so I'll be cheering for the high refresh screen instead.

Anonymous, 18 Aug 2020Sony said silly things like "This is part of the shift... moreHeadphone jacks were removed because internal space was a premium & batteries or other things had to be reduced... battery improvements are rapid iterations as are cpu and so the next models do far more with less space & the jack can come back... it also helped that Apple, Samsung & Sony were big makers of wireless earphones.

Anonymous, 18 Aug 2020Sony is the only company to say that they removed the 3.5mm... moreAnd they do make a great sense, because Sony's wireless audio devices are some of the best in the market, even if not exactly the best one out there.
At least much better than some ridiculous beanpods in copper or a peashooter in white.

Fayth, 18 Aug 2020always love Sony's design but this a bit awkward, whe... moreBecause the shutter key is supposed to be on the right hand side when in landscape mode, and the volume rocker would act as a zoom function, so it would be weird if the volume buttons are on the bottom when the phone is in landscape mode, especially since the cameras are located vertically on the upper left part of the back of the phone.

CompactPhones5ever, 18 Aug 2020Man, if only they gave Xperia 5 2 a high refresh screen ins... moreOkay seriously though, are there any content that I could use a high refresh rate for?
It's not like 60Hz makes my phone entirely unusable to even demand for a high refresh rate, and I'm yet to see phones constantly achieve that much frame rate consistently at any given tasks.
I've been using 60Hz for a while now, and tried using a 120Hz display for some time, and I absolutely have no problem using either of them.
What I wouldn't accept for $1000 in 2020, however, is the lack of 4K resolution, which can truly be maximized in many more cases, as 4K contents in 21:9 actually DO exist, and there are thousands of them in this world.
This is not about me saying that high refresh rates are no good, because even I would love to have one as well, but come on, it ain't a deal breaker at all!
At least not right now without many things to make full use of them. And is Motion Blur Reduction not enough to deliver a silky smooth and fast experience? Even Btekt on YouTube already admitted that he didn't care about the S20 Ultra's 120Hz anymore when the 1 II's Motion Blur Reduction already gave a solid enough experience for what a typical smartphone user would really need in a regular basis.
