Doesn't it bother anyone that the camera module is upside down (look at 'zeiss' caption)? Moreover, there is an additional button for some reason and no sim card slot either. It all adds up to a feel of fake.

CompactPhones5ever, 18 Aug 2020Man, if only they gave Xperia 5 2 a high refresh screen ins... moreOf course 5ii does not have 4K screen.
It is a 2nd tier phone.
There are 2 with 4K already, zero chance of 3rd device.
Ppl complain 4K uses too much power, but demand 120Hz that will use even more.
Better image is more important than scrolling faster the browser.

Whackcar, 18 Aug 2020But I'm sure you've used the LED flash as a torch... moreAs a flesh light? Every night when I'm going for a walk with my dog.
Imagine some brand is trying to convince the customer that led flash is no longer necessary and the display has enough brightness to be used as a flash light😂

Anonymous, 18 Aug 2020Sony said silly things like "This is part of the shift... moreWell, they ended up admitting on the Xperia 1 ii interview about selling more earbuds so they are absolved.
Meanwhile, another company continues their march on jackless premium devices to have that massive 100mah battery capacity and instead put the jack on budget devices so they look like poor people features.
And I am a blind fan to no one. Learned from being a nokia symbian fan.

Anonymous, 18 Aug 2020Sony is the only company to say that they removed the 3.5mm... moreSony said silly things like "This is part of the shift to our new Ambient Flow design language. In order to create the beautiful seamless design, our designers needed to remove the headphone jack." Don't be a blind fan.

It also seems to have the separate power button of the 1st version not the combined power/fingerprint of the x1ii

Berserker, 18 Aug 2020Actually when you think about it it is very possible. Damn,... moreBut I'm sure you've used the LED flash as a torch at some point. I sure use it all the time as a torch whenever i need one.
You see, smartphones are so great because they provide multiple functions on the same device. A camera, camcorder, clock, alarm, compass, map, calendar, torch, music player, video player, fm radio, audio recorder, notepad, diary, handheld gaming console, etc. Smartphones have become a necessity because they've practically replaced all those item.
If we start getting rid of those features, smartphones will lose the "smart" aspect of them. I don't approve of that, and neither should you.

More likely it wont have a TOF sensor and that is actually the flash. My bet is the TOF is sold to Apple with an agreement only to put it on the 1ii or other phones of a similar price point.

Man, if only they gave Xperia 5 2 a high refresh screen instead of 4k... While I appreciate Sony 'playing its own game' by not following all the modern trends (like sticking to good old bezels instead of stupid notches and punch holes), I seriously don't feel like paying more than 500 usd for a phone with 60Hz screen in 2020...
Oh and they should bring back FM radio receiver, Xperia phones used to have it across the lineup in good old days, I have no idea why they dropped it recently... Even the 10 and 10II has the FM radio, it feels like such a downgrade with 1/5/1II which doesn't have it...

Anonymous, 17 Aug 2020How do you do when you cant use slower shutter of night mod... moreMaybe they will sell an external LED for camera? This is just a render by case maker so it is probably wrong those guys just get the dimensions and holes right

I do hope the Xperia 5 ii will become official. As much as I like the Xperia 1 ii, I'm not sure about its $1200 price tag and 4K screen. Just give me FHD resolution all day long. I won't expect QHD considering last year's Xperia 5, but that wouldn't hurt.

Togole, 18 Aug 2020Why without 5G? Adoption of 5G has been gaining quite a bit... moreAnd by the time 5G becomes useful in two or three years' time, Sony and every other brand will launch a much more powerful and more efficient 5G smartphone. Would I jump into the 5G bandwagon right now? No, not a chance.

Anonymous, 17 Aug 2020GarageBand is skinned down DAW, nothing fancy about it real... moreIn that case humor me why their software on Android is so limited we need 3 apps with pretty unfriendly UI for our snappers?
Could it be, that the software team responsible is long gone? That it was made by another team/teams?
When company does something right, it does not mean they will do it right ever again - their whole mobile division is the holy grail of proof.

Kek, 18 Aug 2020I will cross my fingers for Xperia 5 II sans 5G arrives to ... moreWhy without 5G? Adoption of 5G has been gaining quite a bit. With this phone you'd expect minimal 2-3 years of use and seems 5G will be quite useful in the coming years particularly as media becomes ubiquitous on phones and video quality improves therefore requiring more bandwidth and speed.
