to put it short, i'll rather save the 1400 now, top up about 500 or so and get the galaxy fold 2 when it comes out instead of this inferior ****

This is going to fail so bad. People paying premium wont settle for 6gb, old SD 855, subpar battery, and no 5g

AlMed, 23 Aug 2020Don't know why almost no one is comparing with LG V60 ... moreThe V60's second screen is extra, $200, the resulting device is really thick(maybe close to 2 cm closed), bulky and heavy (213g plus the second screen, 80-90g perhaps??).

I think lg expects the phone to be used primarily as a big regular phone while the duo is fully committed with the dual screen functionality.

The only way this device might become successful is if Microsoft actually brings back the Imaging Team they had for Lumia. Other than that, it might end up like the HP Elite x3: a niche expensive device.

As such Mictosoft needs a lot of learning on building devices be it laptop, tablet, mobile. I have a surface pro4 and I frequently face problems of screen flickering

For me, it's the lack of MicroSD. My current phone was less than $200 and supports up to 2TB expansion, but a $1,400-$1,500 flagship device doesn't? O_o

DataFast, 23 Aug 2020I think the mistake people are making is they feel the pric... moreYou aren't going to replace a Windows device with an Android device. The Surface replacement is the Surface Neo which got pushed to 2021.

No excuse for huge bezels in this day and age, a singular foldable screen would have been nice. Other than that I wanted one just because its a surface phone.

Price. It's the price. Why can't Microsoft figure this out?!

The Duo is so overpriced, they had to cancel the Neo - a product that would have to be more expensive than a high spec Surface Pro!! Even as it stands at the Duo is more expensive than the lower end Surface Pro. Supposedly a sophisticated PC with a much larger screen, resolution and overall processing power.

It's truly messed up with people paying virtually any price for phones All are overpriced and this is Microsoft just trying to cash in on the racket for themselves. Show me a brand new $600 Surface Duo and I'll buy it that same day. Guaranteed.

Anonymous, 23 Aug 2020It was the phrasing of the options that skewed the results ... moreYou have 2 YES options, 1 MAYBE option and 3 NO options.

Plenty of options to vote NO, if you don't want it you are not going to vote MAYBE or YES even if your reason for NO was not listed.

Interestingly enough most who say NO did so for the battery or performance by far, NOT the price.

I see no questions that would bait someone who does not want it to say maybe or yes.

Or if you are smarter than anyone would you care to explain where is the cheat?

Don't know why almost no one is comparing with LG V60 Dual Screen. V60 with Dual Screen is awesome. Multitasking on two screens brings productivity to new level. Duo may have interesting integration that V60 is lacking, but the 5000mAh battery, SD Card, better processor, 5G and fact that you can take the phone out of the case if you're not going to need the dual screen makes getting the V60 over the Duo a no brainer. Not to mention the V60 is half the price.

I'd still rather want a Microsoft Courier.

I think the mistake people are making is they feel the price is too high for a phone. It’s not a phone ... it’s a Surface device. I’m gonna get one and I hope it replaces my Surface Pro for most of my daily computing needs. My last Surface cost me $1400 ... why not this one? And it doubles as my phone. Win!

I don't care about the bezels, the lack of NFC+Wireless Charging is what killed it for me (the small battery didn't help either though).

I'm surprised the poll came out this favorable. For one of the most expensive phones on the market, it falls behind the competition in several ways yet costs substantially more (twice as much as my new dual screen v60.) Then, there's the fact that it doesn't look like it will fit in a pants pocket; not that it would be a good carry it that way. This is definitely a phone that needs to be carried in something properly padded.

I'm waiting for reviews first but I'm tentatively excited about it. The battery life concerns me most. If this will be replacing my phone, it will be on my desk most of the day with ear buds listening to music or on calls while at work (the freakish size to use as a phone concerns me somewhat but most of the day I'm on the phone with my ear buds). And it will possibly replace my surface go for couch surfing. And replace my kindle for ebooks if the kindle app is updated to support two pages like the demo videos have shown.

I really doubt the smallish battery will be enough to replace the day's work of three devices, but I'm tentatively excited.
