Nobody delivers a chip that is only as fast as last year's but sips less power, they generally lean towards the performance side of the equation. They then often also ramp the frequency, further countering any efficiency gains.

todays flagships have 2K+, 500ppi+, almost 7 inch displays

if u were to fit todays processor in say a galaxy s6 or iphone 6s, the battery life WOULD be "150% better", but as batteries get theoretically better, screens get bigger, games get more demanding, we have more demanding softwares and cameras, games, apps, etc...
this can easily be seen by how a older phone lags with a new version of apps

If I could just design and or tweak some components on the Note10+ / Note20 Ultra - then I'd finally be satisfied.

Plus, summarizing what the OP said - all that was asked was for the transparency / visibility of the actual speed improvements because phones still lag despite them being so much % faster, cameras don't instantly open despite having stacked DRAM for faster access and only numbers increase in synthetic benchmarks but according to you that's all positive right?

Anonymous, 25 Aug 2020LIES... they said same 30% more efficiency for 14 nm , 30%... moreThe Improving in games requirements and system requirements just eats from the battery so you can't compare battery life from 5 years when the heaviest game was candy crush saga + the higher refresh rate + 5g capability + better and bigger screens + more features in software all that leads to draining the battery if you want 150 % more battery then go grab a galaxy s6 put sd 875 in it and you're good to go it will be 150% battery but you'll lose all the features you have today and it's worth to mention that the camera equipment in mobiles now one of the most power consuming things

China is different, they are funding their big company to be better, for example Huawei. The positive side is Huawei is easily getting stronger while the other even have the idea to overcome Huawei, they don't have money. That's actually what happened. In China, most technology run by business conglomerate and everyone need to comply that. For example wechat, baidu.
Many company run unethical business, but mostly happen to low level wage. I know some Chinese company doing unethical to even its medium level employee. The culture is different if you have work in multinational company.

By the way, I'm not a big fun of the Chinese government but I have a lot of respect for their companies. They seem to be the only ones working hard to try and innovative in many areas of technology but some people are still behind crying about IP theft.
If they stole the IP, then why are you failing to produce the products with same technology you claim to be stolen but every time claiming stolen tech but you can't produce the products yoursleves.
I would have thought you would still have retained those ideas in your minds or somewhere and it can't evaporate from you the minute it's "stolen" then to me it means you didn't have it in the first place.

Reading about poaching here really funny. Can you call it poaching when someone offer you a better salary for you to work with them? Isn't that normal in job market? Just pay your employees better salary then if want to protect them.
Also some people doesn't realized here that poaching from TSMC doesn't mean much if they couldn't built the chip. ASML is more important since they are the only one who could built the lithography machines needed for this.

The fact is that technology has been evolving for some time and not localised to any particular country but surprising you find some one claiming that it's country A' s technology when in actual fact the country or company only added incremental upgrade to an old technology.
Imagine if very country/company or individuals claimed their contribution to a particular technology and denied others from using it in their products, there will be confusion and no one company or country will be able to produce a single product.
