Some Galaxy Note20's have vapor chamber cooling, others use graphite

25 August 2020
Not all Galaxy Note20 and Note20 Ultra's have the same cooling and it isn't chipset-dependent.

J , 25 Aug 2020Now that Huawei is out of international competition, Samsun... moreYou are making assumptions without basis. Another perfectly reasonable explanation might be that some subset of the SoCs run slightly hotter than most, so a copper vapor chamber is used to cool them a little better in the phone.

Samsung r&d: let's do it thin and sexy, but it will overheat and burn your skin, and when it does not burn your skin (when you don't have US note20ultra) it will be 20% slower than, 400usd CN phone.
    Samsung bosses: Okey!

Just a note: the video with the vapor chamber is made in Seoul, which is in South Korea, which is the Samsung mother country. Homecountry. They sell note20ultra there with exynos. Snapdragon only for USA.
Why not vapor chamber to be on exynos chipsets?

Also there is no such thing as sub6 5g with 865+
865+ is for usa ant you have mmwave version there

Exynos is less efficient and makes more heat => vapor chamber

but they forgot 865+ also does a lot of heat. and ended 1400eur phone that overheats and gets you pain in your skin when overload

I am sorry my 900 eur oppo find x2 pro is (was until this month) the fastest phone 2020 and never burned my skin. and it's chinese. No surprise US tries to compress CN grow and won't work out ofcourse.

The yet another disaster from Note series, ladies and gentlemen.
Yet another rush and not re-tinging everything again and again before making such discussions.

Maybe Samsung thought they will not be cough ? Ha !

Please Huawei, hurry with mate40pro+ my kirin1020 powered baby. Let's forget about the too hot (and slow outside USA - exynos powered out of USA ) note20ultra :)

MrDong, 25 Aug 2020Just like the iPhone 11 and Huawei Mate 20 using convention... moreBased on the SpeedTestG result, Note20U's SD865+ can barely catch up with those vanilla SD865 chipset. They certainly limited the true potential of their chipsets.

This only has to do with 5G technology, nothing more else. It has not do with Exynos chipset.

WTH is going on? Why have such differences? With Exynos and Snapdragon atleast you know what you are getting but how can you check this? Samsung why are you doing this?

Oh deary me. What a disaster.

Anonymous, 25 Aug 2020Not really Huawei is lucky China was one of the first count... moreAlso, Huawei have been able to play the patriotic card in their marketing precisely for the same reason of the ban, so they're making lemonade out of their lemons if you will.

Of course these Samsungs are also helping. The Note 20 is looking like an all-time "why China took over the industry" moment.

despite all these complaints and slow sales
samsung will repeat the same mistakes with s21

And it still overheats. Thanks crapynos

Jo. , 25 Aug 2020Now that Huawei is 99% out of international competition Sam... moreNot really Huawei is lucky China was one of the first countries who got through COVID and the economy returned to normal and its also where Huawei get majority of their sales.

Samsung mostly sells in European markets and the US and those economies are still trying to get through COVID.

Thats why in the 1st 6 months Huawei has sold more devices than Samsung, right now Huawei are the Number 1 OEM for 2020 because Samsungs markets are struggling. Huawei has the ban which is causing them issues and Samsung has COVID issues.

It's always been pretty much plain and simple since 2010. Samsung is technology and Android worldwide nothing else matters today.

Just like the iPhone 11 and Huawei Mate 20 using conventional graphite sheet to disperse heat, that's not enough.

And Samsung phones have always been a joke in terms of repairability. A score of 3 is outright embarassing and dissapointing. iPhone may have expensive repair costs, but it scores a 6 in IFixIt as the components critical to damage (display and battery) are still easy to replace. This has been going for years and years.

Exynos model with vapor chamber still gets hotter than graphite sheet SD model. Samsung is sneakily throttling SD performance then.

Now that Huawei is 99% out of international competition Samsung can do whatever they want. First more exynos chipset, then green tint screen, now only few models have a good cooling system and prices are higher.

“ Many users and reviewers have characterized the Galaxy Note20 Ultra as hotter than expected in day to day use. In our review, we noted that it "heats up significantly with prolonged heavy load". We can even go on to say that it verges on uncomfortably hot during heavier use, more so than the Galaxy S20 Ultra.”

So despite all that cooling tech,it still gets uncomfortably hot, seems the Note20 is severely compromised, more so than s20.

Now that Huawei is out of international competition, Samsung can do whatever they want meanwhile give us these cr4p with higher prices. First exynos, then green tint, now only some note 20s has a good cooling system for 5G and heavy load.
