Zenfone 6 initially had the introduction price of MSRP of US$550, given the current exchange rate, that works out to around US$ 900 for the 7 Pro, that more than 50%. I have no idea why GSMArena change the pricing giving the price hike for Z6 within the past 5 month.

And with the past record of Asus where Taiwan market had more competitive pricing vs rest of the world, your pipe dream price of international pricing will look unlikely.

DAMNIT. The rumored price of 7 Pro at $550 was really interesting. Even more so when it's official and i read this article, seeing all the specs. OHH, it checks everything i want it to be (tbh i want a compact one but yeah whatever. I don't care 3.5 either)

BUT THE F PRICE. Whyyyyyy. It's way more expensive. 50% price increase from Zen6 to Zen7 and almost 100% price increase on 7 Pro!!!!

I do hope global price will be around 699 for 7 Pro.
If not, then iPhone 12 will be a definite choice.

Heck, an LG V65 with the same specs but with 865+, 2K@90Hz P-OLED, and 5,150mAH battery would have actually sold me despite the lack of telephoto cam.

Another company aiming for the 1000 mark. Great on specs, but expect nothing less than 900 euro when it reaches EU, while Poco f2 is now selling for 400! Sure it lacks the OIS and 90hz but this ain't worth double price tag!

Removing the headphone jack is unacceptable to me, and as you can see from the comments, many others feel the same. Asus have just lost a lot of potential buyers who want a phone with good wired audio but aren't willing to pay €1,300 for the Sony Xperia 1 mark 2

An upgrade from the Zenfone 6, sure. But at such price increase worth? I don't think so. Given historically Asus phone pricing are more competitive in Taiwan vs rest of the world with the current exchange rate will make the Pro around US$ 900. The closest competitor for me will be the OnePlus 8 Pro. And for me it highlight the follows:

                  - Zenfone has Snapdragon 865+, but OnePlus has 12GB RAM option
                  - Zenfone has the flipcam finally with OIS, but OnePlus has two more camera module, for me the the cost balance off there without concern of flip motor break
                  - OnePlus has underscreen biometrics. It doesn't matter if doesn't perform as well, but it certainly more matching the premium status, and should cost more
                  - OnePlus has 120Hz bigger and higher-res screen
                  - Zenfone has around 500mAh more on the battery, but without wireless charge (despite I won't use it) and it 30g heavier
                  - Zenfone has far worse official software update support. To a point I once forgiven giving the price was much cheaper vs market, but this is no longer the case
                  - Zenfone has poor to near non stable developer support, which is far worse than OnePlus, and the poor official support isn't helping either

Given such state, I have no idea how Asus is so ego to sell at the price premium they think it deserve. Not to mention, the built quality is average at best (with Zenfone 5 and prior at least) with very little international support and very hard to find accessories which is all on the con side. And their Zentalk community is probably the least helping biased community I've ever dealt with. Thanks, but no thanks for me on the Zenfone 7.

Anders, 26 Aug 2020The ZenFone 6 had a headphone jack and a 5,000mah battery ... moreI'm just saying what the Asus told officially. And I'm not saying make everything an add on. But you can't find an add on camera but you can find a jack as an add on. If you have to choose between anyone of them, you'll definitely choose something which can't be added as an addon. So trading off the jack for an additional camera (and hence a larger flip cam module) is a better choice. If there was an option available in market to add custom camera senors to your phone, I'd definitely choose a headphone jack over it. Maybe it's just an excuse, but it's a reasonable one. There are some companies who do it for the sake of it, and I just hate them. And I highly doubt Asus is gonna squeeze anything out from anyone until they start selling their own wireless earphones (which brands like OnePlus, Apple and Samsung do, and Apple squeezing 100s of dollar extra for every device they sell).

Also the liquid metal costs a lot, so I don't think Asus makes much profit from their Zenfone lineup, especially in India.

I'm not convinced headphone jack people will accept anything with a headphone jack unless it is from Samsung, Apple or Huawei.

People that don't get a headphone jack complain about it. When they do get a headphone jack they find something else about the phone to complain about. If that were not the case Xperia's sales would have skyrocketed.

                          The ZenFone 7 doesn't have a headphone jack, and has a 5,000mah
Didn't get a bigger battery by removing the jack then.

Buying an adaptor is unacceptable. We consumers should not have to solve a problem deliberately created by the manufacturer.

It's like if they removed the cameras, but sold a camera add on that you could fix onto the phone (Moto mod style). And you saying "oh well you can just buy the separate camera add on.

Please stop defending multimillion dollar companies that want to squeeze an extra few bucks out of us
