It's sound systems are also enviable . But , when she comes to mobile phones it certainly is not their pie 🥧 of the cake 🎂.
Similarly LG is extremely excellent with the house 🏡 old electronics especially with the refrigerators , TV ok ( samsung tv will be a better choice ) . LG , not so good / not good with the mobiles .
Instead of the other cross comments , you have rightly said .
It is a very Positive Comment .
Sony and LG must re-consider their policies about the Mobile Phones in Future .

For someone who still confused with Sony Xperia naming scheme. 1 is the flagship and the higher the number the more midrange and budget they are (Weird? Yeah); X5, X10, X8 (Japan exclusive). They add Roman numeral each year like Sony Alpha

I like Sony phone. But seriously what the hell are they doing? Even if the Xperia 8 lineup is only exclusive for Japan, what kind of Japanese would buy this kind of phone in a market full of good budget and midrange phone from company like Samsung and even Sharp Aquos in Japan as well

Anonymous, 26 Aug 2020You should stop making stupid comments and pretending like ... moreI wonder if you felt the same way when company like HTC (with thousands of employees, CEOs etc.) was doing something mind bogling and everyone was "Why, it will not help, it will end you.".
Guess who was right ... tech fans or the company? Who knew the market better.

a lil overpriced but still looks interesting for a budget camera phone (which is basically nonexistent)

Yeah definitely overpriced for what it's offering.
Again, nobody's being forced to buy this phone as if it's their only choice.
This is clearly selling in the market where those Chinese budget phones barely exist, and it's not a totally horrible phone at all.
For instance, Sony's software skin is one of the better ones for Android, and it barely has any problem even for entry level devices. Meanwhile, some users of Xiaomi or Realme phones that cost about the same as this phone do experience some bugs in the software. Not a big deal per say, but definitely worth noting.
Also, the 21:9 cinematic display ratio is great for viewing experience. In comparison, most phones that cost similarly to this phone often have that obtrusive screen cutout for selfie camera, which disrupts the overall entertainment factor. Sure you can hide it, but it's no longer a totally full screen experience greatness, and it's simply wasting screen estate just to hide the distraction. In short, the design is simply causing more problems than it fixes.
Perhaps for $200 this would be more acceptable, but knowing Sony, prices would surely drop down quickly in months.

I think some Sony executive had just woke up from year long sleep and decided to launch a phone , he had in mind.
Seriously, I could get old SoC choice (not first time Sony to do that), but 9.0 Pie ? WTF?

Josh V, 26 Aug 2020Sony mobile should stop making stupid phones. You should stop making stupid comments and pretending like you know so more than a company of thousands of employees. You're not better than them. Like me, you're a literal nobody who wastes their time on the internet making snide and salty remarks because you're upset someone wronged you.

LG Superfan, 26 Aug 2020Depth sensor and ToF sensor are different thing you know. I... moreWell actually, depth sensor simply encapsulate all sensor who give depth informations, ToF is a type of distance measuring sensor who use the time the light need to bounce back to estimate it, laser focusing is a type of ToF, and when you get imaging out of it, it become a LiDAR (that unlike popular believe isn't necessarily laser based, it is all light based depth sensing methods).
So not every depth sensor are ToF and not every ToF are depth sensor, but many are.
The front 3D facial recognition on Huawei are ToF LiDAR which are depth sensors, on the contrary, on the iPhone who use structured light (like Kinect), it doesn't rely on the time light bounce back but rather on how distance affect the light pattern, so it is a LiDAR and a depth sensor, but not a ToF.
Actually, depth map, regardless of the method employed, have been low resolution for a while because there were used for physical scanning in non real time and not for any photography/image quality use.
12Mp is the standard of photography, if your main sensor isn't 12Mp, chances are it is only binned to 12Mp anyway, but here is the thing, if you want to REALLY use properly the depth sensor, you need a 1:1 pixel matching, or even higher, otherwise you need processing power through AI to detect edges.
Think about it, if you want to cut a person out of a picture using a layer in any editing software, how it would look if you use a layer with lower resolution than the image itself ?
Well, not good, you'll need to do lots of manual work to fix all the pixels selected in and out.
That's the same thing, you need a true high resolution depth sensor to start using advanced features, a high resolution depth sensor would allow things you can't imagine, you could even change the angle the picture is taken, post capture, and other amazing things that a low resolution depth sensor can't do because it would require too much computing power.

AnonD-909757, 26 Aug 2020I really hope the 8Mp is a depth sensor, so we get closer t... moreDepth sensor and ToF sensor are different thing you know. I don't think even 100MP depth sensor will be worth it and ToF already has near perfect subject seperation look at P40 Pro+ and refocusing post shot, changing depth effect by aperture post shot is already possible even on cheap phones with depth sensor
Though changing depth effect focal length would be interesting

This name is super confusing. you would expect it to be better than the xperia 10 since the 1 and 5 are more premium but this is basically a rebrand of the xperia 10, hopefully their next phone is better (still expecting an xperia 5 ii or something).
