I like it because of its support for privacy-friendly ungoogled android from e foundation. It is great if you not only want to save environment but also your private data.

469 euros for a snapdragon 632. Gtfo. Nothing fair about it. Total joke.

And it supports ungoogled privacy friendly /e/ OS, so my data and location will be safe from Google recording!

It is not ethical at all. The production is very low volume and very wasteful. The easy replaceable design means a lot of extra material used. The slow SoC also means you'd be looking for upgrade before 2 years and won't keep it longer like an iPhone, OnePlus, Pixel

concept is great but price is to high for what it offers AND it doesnt offer a lot of different modules to swap from. They need to improve the desing, get better hardware, fix the pricing (not only of the phone but of the parts too) and make it more modular with more options of mudules to choose from, for example having 3 different speakers, the option of having 2 or more back cameras instead of only one... I know its hard, requires money for the research and development and a challange for engineers, but its possible, and if theyre not considering this... this company will die soon.

It will help the environment or the workers or whatever by an amount of nothing and they know it perfectly.

If you want to help the environment don't buy chinese products where all the abuses to workers and the enviroment take place, don't use dirty energy and buy only natural, biodegradable produts. Never work for anyone that pollutes the environment.

Last but not least, instead of wasting your time with a smartphone, volunteer to plant trees or something like that, likely you will help your health in the process too.

the concept is amazing but the phone itself and the price not very compelling... i really hope they improve in the next years in terms of desing, being more modular and overall tech and better hadware cause its promissing and very interesting. I would love to have a phone thats not fancy and full of gimics and rather simple yet nice modern design with nice great tech and hardware (not necessarily the best of the best but top midranger level at least) that can be swaped thru the years, so instead of everytime a small nice tech comes to the market i would have to buy a whole new phone to experience it, i can only buy the part itself.

This phone is not made on a line by cheap labour in modern slavery camp, but by people that actually get paid fair for the job. The OS is really well optimized so you don't feel lags like what you can experience on a device which boats the same specs sheet.

The device is really well made to be used on a daily basis

The device has been thought to become an Android alternative to the iPhones 6,7 and 8 Plus. That has all his sense especially because these devices are the most used in the Netherlands.

The Fairphone can last between 1 and 2 days despite its small battery on a normal usage but it's indeed thanks to the SOC which is really a small one, the SD632.

Moreover to have kept this SOC on the FP3+ was globally really not welcomed well by the users on Youtube and during the chat we were several to try to report it but indeed Fairphone representatives dodged the question. Someone could introduce nicely the question during the Q&A and they claimed they focused only on cams and audio to let the device lasts longer. But indeed, we can commonly agree that has no sense as a good camera and better sound doesn't let a device to be used as longer as a newer soc could offer. Some people were saying that was more for us a way to do new and avoid to invest in dev for new SOC.

So what could I say more? The device is good, because optimized, the device doesn't look cheap, it's nice and original but there is a real lack in performances for most of GSMA followers or other power users: If you use a smartwatch and headsets, then it's possible that you will have to reboot your device every day to let them work as expected. Same for bluetooth radio or car systems on board. The battery saver is really aggressive so if you're a fitbit fan then you will suffer a little bit with it.

The conception of the frame in plastic is also a little bit limited especially if you use it puts dowm on a soft surface like a mattress: Some gestures will not react.

There was a bug with the 3.5mm jack when you plug the headset, you remove it and re-plug it then it's not recognized, but maybe with Android 10 the bug has been fixed.

The SD632 is also really not well efficient with heavy applications but the worst was the quality of the internet connection: I had a lot of time to be close to my routeur, where my other devices never had this problem.

So to conclude, it's a good device for users who have basic needs of their phones, but the others will be disappointed.

For example if you have multiple devices then this one can be really a great addition in your fleet: If it's only to surf on the web, send messages, chats, calls, listen music, gps, then this one is really good.

If you need more, yes you will be disappointed, who will start to Fortnite on this screen?

I had it during several months and frankly speaking it's one of the best phones I never had and if I could keep it, I will do it but I take a lot of photos with my phone and I couldn't stay on my Fairphone with Gcam mod on it (I'm on Pixel 4 now)

Good phone but not for all hands.

Seriously EUR469 for Snapdragon 632? I'll rather get a Nord and stays unethical.

Just wow!! all the features including FHD+ display on a 5.7 inch screen. Hope others who provide HD+ screens on a 6.5 inch screen learn from this.

While I do support their efforts, it's priced is way too high for someone to even care about modular phone. This is such irony. Most people who usually who goes the modular, DIY, way are people who lives in poverty. They repair it, fix it, scavenge from another, until the phone is truly unrepairable. Even they salvage the usable parts and then sell them if they can. It's such a none sense to sell such phone in high price, much higher than non modular phone. And keep in mind, making the phone non modular doesn't cheapen its price. I just don't understand how this phone will attract buyer by doing so.
