The 12-inch MacBook to be the first with Apple's ARM CPU

31 August 2020
It's probably going to be A14X Bionic.

I don't even remember the 12-inch MacBook exists in the first place. All I remember is the 13 Air, 13 Pro, and 16 Pro.

As for GPU, Apple is sticking with AMD for 2 different reasons: They want to keep the overall TDP under 100W on MBP, and Nvidia has a terrible relationship with Apple.

They are doing it on purpose. MBP 13 and MBA should have roughly the same spatial volume inside the chassis but MBA can't run cool, because Apple intentionally gimped it and decided not to include heat pipes and connect its single fan into a heat sink. They did the same for the iMac & iMac Pro as well. You need to pay more to get better cooling - something I'm definitely not a fan of about Apple.

Android.Master, 31 Aug 2020ARM CPU? Get prepared for bugs. Rosetta 2 translates apps JIT/upon installation at binary level therefore they shouldn't have any "bugs". Apple Silicon Macs will have a few issues in short-medium term but bugs are definitely not one of them.

It makes a lot of sense, really. 12 inch MB was disastrous in terms of heat and had short battery life due to "Ultra efficient" Core i7 a.k.a rebranded Core M, hence they chose it to showcase their prowess in thier chip designing capability. Change nothing apart from the SoC (and possibly a heat sink) and make it perform so much better - not really a hard task for Apple given how well their A series processors have been performing on iPhone and iPad both of which have far more constrained cooling systems than any Mac products.

People here praise ARM for being "power efficient" and "cooler", and forget the mess Exynos and Snapdragon 808/810 were.

Yes, they generally are, but that doesn't means they cant heat up like crazy. So far, we have only see those Apple processors running simple trivial stuff on iPadOS (which is basically a fork from iOS at this point) and iOS. Mac is another different thing on its own.

Have a gt70 with a 770m and a 4700mq, wasted my money (technically my mom did but yeah). If i were to get myself a work and gaming setup i'd just build a pc to run everything on high-ultra @1440p for the next 5 years a 144hz 27 monitor and a 14-15 laptop that's cheap (an all rounder). And i'd still have enough money leftover for a pizza party.

Windows laptops with intel and AMD CPUs have lots of bugs, just ask Linus Tech or Tom's Hardware and they'll pinpoint that.

Well, Mac users won't see any difference. Right now Macs throttle so much thanks to Apples 'innovative" cooling, that ARM based CPU straight from iPhone might be even faster, since it's way more power efficient and won't heat up as much.
