Seeing that flagships are getting more and more expensive, the support should be longer than the regular 2 year support.
Samsung had been bad at providing updates, and Sony top and consistent.
Still, only for 2 years. Let's see if this new is real.

Thanks to Samsung, with it's recent change in their Android update policy (all 2020 models from Galaxy A51 and up + last years S-series and Note-series) will get 3 years of Major android updates!
I hope that the rest of the Android Smartphone industry follows this new Trend.

By your description you have to be very specific target audience, to even consider Sony, imho it's not that bad.

For Europe and other markets, Sony is best option especially for people who doesn't like notches or punchholes as well as exynos bs.

Sony should be more convinced regarding more OS updates parallelly like other manufacturers. Before Sony users were cheated with single OS update even for flagship devices.

- China: ppl always give prefference to local brands, even Samsung is irrelevant there. Sony has zero chance.
- India : ppl only buy craps sold by Xiaomi, Realme and Samsung. No other has chance, because it is impossible to match prices these brands charge there because these phones are made there.
- USA : impossible to succeed with carrier deals, ppl only care about Samsung and Apple. Not even Motorola sells well there. You need much money to afford selling through carriers because you make less money than selling unlocked.

No OEM gives differents updates for devices with same cpu.
This is why 5 came with android 9 instead of 10. So ppl can stop crying.
