WTF Apple. local search has been in Palm devices and in Nokia Symbian phones even before iPhone was conceived. Do they also plan to sue Nokia and Palm for that feature?

A new firmware update on my s3 is now out on my country. Is this also applicable for the international versions of s3?

My Palm Pilot had universal search, as did my Treos. This prior art should invalidate this Apple patent.

It is not true that it was first on Spotlight, Spotlight was released in 2005, but Google desktop was already there in 2004, and there were plenty of people who beat Google to it, such as Copernic Desktop Search, which was released pre-2000.

Symbian Internal search pre-dates iPhone, but I am unsure if it pre-dates Spotlight.

Of course all decent Library systems search multiple data sources for results and the one I used to work on had this feature and pre-dated 2005... Do not understand how the patent could be granted for copying a standard computer tool which has existed in some form or another since the late 70s!

As far as I know, most of the innovations you talk about are actually innovations developed or created by other companies. For example SIRI was developed by other company, which was eventually bought out by Apple and now they say they innovated it. I do like a the ipod, but cuz of the apps, not the design. The design, I dont think you need any kind of R&D for that. For the software deparment, I agree. But all its hardware are innovations from other companies, and Samsung itself has been there greatest allies, and also for the forth coming A6 processor.

In the end all companies should get along for the progession of technology.

If Graham Bell would hav said 'I invented the phone and I alone will manufacture it. I will sue anyone who even think of Manufacturing one.'. THen till now we would have still be using phones like dumbles.

Google needs to stick it to them Apple clowns by adding a few restrictions to Android.
Make android open source only to selected parties. Cause right now Apple thieves can steal all the goodies like the did with Siri, Notification Bar, and a whoel lot of other things.
Android had talkdroid or what ever it was called, and had notification bar and other things which are now integrated into apple's OS.
Google needs ot do something so that Apple is unable ot take these thins for free like it does now cause they claim it's open source.
                  WTF ?
Go invent your own stuff Apple.

Read this article to gain better understanding on the current situation and why Apple is forced to litigate as much as it does. Also on why a section of blame also lies on Google.

So the search option has been taken out, big F'in deal, who really cares, the S3 is a winner and apple knows that they cant compete.
Apple r so out dated and boring, people are finally realizing that apple is just a name to look "cool" with but isnt actually a good phone.

People are converting to android and Samsung. Go Samsung, Go Android!!!

Anonymous, 12 Jul 2012Every computer can now, but it was first seen on the Mac...... morehere the thing, it doesnt matter who did it first, motorola makes the first mobile phone , but they dont sue anyone who make a device with the same function.

YES apple can keep the antenna patent of iphone 4 & 4s, i think its elegant and great use of the metal rim as antenna.

but NO , apple cant patent "a rectangular device with curved edge" or "universal search" , just like you cant patent "breathing" for humans or "tube shaped liquid holding device with a holder on its side" for a cup.

making something that already there and add a little twist on it doesnt make it your thing or innovation whatsoever. and one more thing ,and for God sake, google is SEARCH engine to begin with and they dont sue bing for having the same feature, yahoo dont sue google? and even siri do google search for you.
