Once the Windows offering is linked across multiple devices with the obvious linkage appeal this will bring, I would expect its share to rise. Blackberry's new operating system will albeit belatedly improve their share for next year.

Just to add on for calculation,
51.8 - 34.3 = 17.5%
Which means, apple need to make half of the current apple users buy another new phone,
Which means the user need to use both the new and the old phone in other to maintain the number at 50-50.
Can anyone please enlighten me on the number of ios users currently?
Android people always found iPhone over price. Chances for them to switch are rare.

Anonymous, 13 Jul 2012what do you mean by swap? man -,- the gap is big, iphone 5... moreGap is very big ? Nope , gap is very small , why ?
If apple increases 10% , android has to decrease 10% because (its 100% share) , if one increases , other one decreases ,since if people buy new iPhone automatically they are not chosing android which makes android to decline, that way this works , so they try to ship less android or make offers like selling $3 for galaxy s3 like last year , overall they try to make less units as WP are coming from all OEMs , which also effects Android as well as iOS , not big impact but OEMs will be busy advertizing their new phones rather than androids.
One new iPhone easily can increase 10-15% , since last year 4S made iOS go from like 25% to 43% , without redesign and normal upgrade.

Sadly, that may no longer be the case:
As of Q1 2012 Nokia ranks second for total phone sales, and third for smartphone sales. I don't know how they ranked for profit, but they made a $1.3 Billion Euro loss Q1 2012 (~$1 Billion from Nokia Siemens Networks).

Right now Windows Phone is not supported by many carriers in the US because they won't upgrade to Windows Phone 8 or hardware limitations. The real battle starts with Windows Phone 8. Windows Phone 8 supports processor up to 64 cores for future proof, it has fast and easy updates just like all current windows phone are running the latest Windows Phone 7.5 (not so much on Android), WP8 requires a security chip with features like Bitlocker and Secure Boot for businesses, it shares the same Windows NT kernel as Windows 8 to help developers that want to port apps between the two at ease, and lastly you should see amazing DirectX games that are optimized for Snapdragon SoC coming to Windows Phone 8. Microsoft should be able to over the mobile world in 2-3 years if they played the cards right.
