10 September 2020
The latest Mi Health app should be able to measure HR, provided the phone is on MIUI 12.

Lots of apps on Play Store already do this. Xiaomi is just putting in their default app.

But it is is a good effort.

Xiaomi, do you have nothing better to do? Use that time and effort in reducing weight of your smartphones. All your smartphones are behemoths.

Not every app is accurate. Around 80% of heart rate apps on playstore won't get you accurate results. But the rest 20 % will. Just read the reviews and don't install anything blindly.

I have used a few apps and they are pretty accurate.
Also one has to keep their fingers stable and stop whining that is doesn't work when in reality you lack the skills to follow instructions properly.

What's the point of this if you can't use it when you need it the most, like when exercising? Needs to be hands-free, so a chest strap or a watch makes more sense.

Daany, 11 Sep 2020It's a gimmick, if you know you know. Just like transp... moreIt isn't a new tech or rocket science and definitely not a gimmick. Heart rate can be detected via smartphone camera. It is best when the LED flash is nearest on the camera sensor being used. It works and I'm using it way back when I have my Xperia Ray. Samsung's implementation being "different" doesn't mean that others are just a gimmick. There are different solutions on achieving the same task, don't be narrow-minded.

Actually,I have tried long time ago with some app in google playstore.

And the results somewhat quite accurate.

It will see your bloodflow under your skin using flashlight and primary camera..

LG Superfan, 11 Sep 2020How accurate will it be? How does it even work Apparently if you open your camera app, press your finger against the camera and shine a bright light on it, you *might* be able to see *very* slight changes in the red color that you'll see. Humans suck at detecting very minute changes like these but I guess it's thousands of times easier for computers.

LG Superfan, 11 Sep 2020How accurate will it be? How does it even work This works using the camera and the flash. The flash is turned on which lights up your finger and the camera detects the small changes in the perceived brightness caused by your blood flow. These apps have existed for a very long time and you can probably find a few in the play store / app store right now as well.

It's a gimmick, if you know you know. Just like transparent phone app(Uses camera view as background), Xray camera (Shows you a short clip of pre-recorded xrayed hand and instructs user to move camera accordingly).

Xiaomi needs to explain what sensors are included in the camera hardware(Which sony "the maker" has not revealed) that is capable of such feat.
This scam only gives you pre-recorded results. Even Samsung had a dedicated sensor for that, which actually works(until they realized it was gimmick). This Xiaomi "camera HRS" is a complete scam.
