AnonD-74525, 04 Oct 2012dinesh patel i have htc desire hd-a.9191 model is it possib... moreYes you can update your HTC desire HD... Very easily ....
There is a software updation zip file of around 150 mb.. which you can download normally from searching on google ...
This zip file you will have to copy in the sdcard of your HTC DESIRE HD and after that you just restart your phone...
When the phone is ready for restart ... Just press the power button and the volume keys... Then will come a recovery mode...then find your zip file from your sdcard and start the installation.... Please keep your phone charged around 70% minimum...after installation reboot your phone...you will have ICS on your phone successfully updated ... Bur firstly... I would like to tell you this in not the official software..form the T-MOBILE OR HTC ...this software may bring some errors.... Coz It's not compitable with this phone 100% . So in my view please do not update your phone by this unofficial methods. Rest all depend on you.....if you want any more info you can contact me on my FB. At. http://www.facebook.com/ashstark777

From http://blog.htc.com/2012/03/ics/
"After extensive testing, we’ve determined that the current version of HTC Sense with Android provides customers with the best experience on the HTC Desire HD. When we consider new versions of software, we weigh a number of factors, but ultimately the customer experience on the product is the deciding factor. We apologize for any confusion this change may have caused our customers"

It's totally a marketing strategy for HTC. Whyy give free update when u can generate sales from HTC One series? I am using DHD for almost two years, custom rom is your friend.

Desire HD is still getting ICS as per HTC
An HTC spokesperson told Android Central --
"We remain committed to providing customers with the latest software updates when possible. As such, we are pleased to confirm we are still on schedule to deliver an Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade for both the HTC Desire HD and Desire S."

-.-, 17 Jul 2012guys, cut the bullsh!t , this device came out for 2 years ,... morePlease mind your language... Indeed if apple can give their users updates in most platform, why can htc do that... Whether the phone is 10years nor 1000years... If it meet the requirement to get the upgrade, it should . No law or principle that state one should keep their phone only for two years...

guys, cut the bullsh!t , this device came out for 2 years , HTC had provided more than enough support for such high-end devices for 2 years. No way that a company will provide software update for a device that is 2 years ago. And don't tell me apple did it , look at their revenues and net income they earned through their iphone lineup, of course they have to provide their update because they earned 100x more than HTC.
Even Samsung doesn't provide software update for their first galaxy s
so stop whining and get a new phone!

I'm using HTC DHD fr more than a year right now. It still perform great after a few updates. And I believe HTC will deliver ICS to this phone and it deserved the name of "Best Android Phone Ever". No any other smartphone goes extra miles like this one... The HTC Desire HD. Long live DHD!

Anonymous, 17 Jul 2012Thanks to HTC my next phone is likely to be an iPhone. My e... moreI would like to know what problem with HTC hardware you have had. I had been a long time iPhone user and I switched to Android about two years ago and I have changed 3 phones made by difrferent companies, Motorola, LG and Sumsung 'till I finaly got HTC Desire. This phone is more then greate at least for me. I consider my self a havy user and this phone has become the maine source of information for me as well as the only mean of communication outside my office.
In more then year since I have this phone I could find a single damage on the hardware or a single software problem. The only "problem" is a battery but since whereever I go I can charge batteries that is not big deal for me. Are we going to get update on ICS it would be fine but if they do not upgrade I have to say that this phone is excelent
