pan, 13 Sep 2020wow... that should be our mindset, if i get it right... we ... moreWell, I'll explain differently in case you didn't got it right, the idea is quite simple, I am not against feedback and other constructive criticism, if peoples don't like a tech or its implementation, they can freely say it.
The issue isn't that you got peoples saying "I wouldn't like a smartphone with X feature" or "I won't buy a smartphone without X feature" or "A smartphone made that way isn't for me".
The issue is that, when someone talk about any design that isn't the standard, someone have to literally come up and say "I don't want this to exist, it shouldn't exist, it can't exist and it won't exist", without any justification other than 'they don't like it themselves'.
That's a huge shame because the smartphone industry is one of those who, like cars, can have so much diversity, but rather than having a lot of various designs, since peoples complain about every possible and imaginable proposals, either from a brand, a patent or an idea someone have, brands can't do their marketing studies and tell appart which tech is non-welcomed and which one is just receiving hate because peoples have to hate on things they aren't familiar with.
I mean, it is totally normal and even the thing to do to criticize when it is an intrusive tech, and by "intrusive" I mean that it both is overly invading the market by being on the majority of the smartphones leaving close to no alternatives, while being something that, if you don't want it, you have to deal negatively with his presence.
For example, wireless charging or 3.5mm Jack doesn't have any negative effect on the user, if they don't want to use it, they simply don't have to.
But a hole in the display, or a front camera in general, or the expensive and quality degrading and privacy nightmare underdisplay camera that will soon be as everywhere as the punch hole, if someone don't want it, there is nothing he can do.
Same with curved edge display that are on way too many smartphones, around half of the flagship have it and you can't just ignore its drawbacks.
If there was enough diversity, therefor enough alternative choices available, it wouldn't be an issue, but when tech like pop up, who is quite a rare occurrence, or a second display on the back which is even more rare, are criticized by a loud minority.
Often with either false/wrong arguments (like all the myths about pop up fragility and other things long debunked and proven wrong that still come up way too often) or even no arguments at all and just the complainer's tastes, and that does affect negatively those tech by making them even less likely to exist on a next phone, that is a big negative impact and a really bad behavior and the reason why the pop up, despite actually being quite popular around its release, got quickly unpopular, not because of the tech itself or the user experience (which is overwhelmingly positive), but because of the badmouthing that started with news article and got their ways into user mind.
I love pop up, but if they were on too many phones, I wouldn't defend them as they are a little intrusive in how they work, though as long as you don't use them, it doesn't have any negative effect on the user, and I would hate for peoples to be forced to use the pop up while not liking it, but when you have to use it, I can understand that there are peoples who wouldn't want that.
If someone just say "I don't like pop up", fine, he can, I don't mind, but peoples who talk about all those false myths or stating it shouldn't exist, there I'll answer and gave real arguments against his nonsense (as it is often nonsense).
Same thing with the notch and punch hole, once they'll become rare, I'll actually defend them against the underdisplay camera that is the next invasive tech.
And when the next thing that will replace the underdisplay camera tech will get there and will invade the market, making underdisplay camera rare, I'll defend underdisplay camera.
And on contrario, if something like the 3.5mm Jack or IR Blaster are criticized, since having them on a phone cause basically no relevant negative aspect to the user, I will defend it, simply because there are no reasons to not want it, if someone don't plan on using it, that's fine, but he can't just impose on everyone else who do want or even need it to not have it by doing anti Jack propaganda and literally actively talking about the removal of this.
There is nothing more selfish than that.
That's why I am not against the idea of SOME phones without the Jack, but clearly it is something that is more negatively impacting the user by being removed than by being integrated.
Same thing with IP Rating or super thin smartphones (under 10mm) that actually many peoples would be quite happy with as the first add cost for actually no real benefit (as a phone can be build water resistant enough without requiring a costly certification and still don't prevent the phone to actually die on water over another one who wouldn't have the certification but good enough build quality, as the OnePlus before the 8 were) and the other cause many drawbacks without actually having any real benefit for the vast majority of users, I am still for a large enough number of smartphones with those for the peoples who really want them.
If someone talk about making a water resistant phone without IP rating, fine, good, excellent even, there isn't any point at making a phone without this level of build quality, except for ultra cheap ones of course, but I'll explain to those talking about IP rating that it isn't as useful as they think.
Same if someone say he like thin smartphones, I'll actually try to find out if he like the idea, as if the trend of slim smartphones is what make him say that, or if he really prefer the handling of slimmer smartphones or have a need for something that don't take space, as actually many are in the first case, some despite actually preferring the handling of thicker phones and not realizing the contradiction, but otherwise, if someone really prefer slim smartphones, fine, but trying to push for all smartphones being slim, no, it isn't a good attitude, there are peoples who want, and a lot who would love thicker phones handling and their advantages.
So yeah, I am against peoples who want tech, that would do absolutely nothing wrong to them if some smartphones had them or if they were on the majority of phones.
Having variety would greatly improve this market.

AnonD-955101, 13 Sep 2020When i lose a PUBG game i simply take out the case and beat... moreI don't think there will be a case for it. The only way is to pull upwards from the upper screen and push on the lower screen
If it doesn't snap, it's pubg proof and should be marketed as such
Good joke btw 🤣

Maybe you should make an entry level and midrange phone again
I missed on having an LG phone
There's a lot of people love to buy an LG phone but they can't afford and its not globally on sale
Don't really focus on making a perfect flagship phone
Focus on what the society want for an affordable price
Example: making a gaming phone on a mid range price, make some unique features,
An snapdragon 720g or mediatek G90T with dual camera and unique front camera for live streaming
6gb/128gb*256gb, with a powerful back designs
And your famous lcd display which is OLED display
Even 5000mah of battery but has a powerful fast charging and has cooling system, to be better phone gaming
With a price of 300-400 us dollars

AnonD-909757, 13 Sep 2020I'm sure it they have to justify it, it will be about ... morewow... that should be our mindset, if i get it right... we should welcome new ideas in the industry... but, to each his own, perhaps most of us are "vocal" and insist what should be and should not... most of the time, there is brand sensitivity... or... hellooooo marketing still works...
though, we welcome ideas... we have some "biases" depending on our lifestyles or how we are willing to "stretch" our lifestyles... remember, it is a cycle that affects smartphone industry too - science to technology to society then back to science... so, most manufacturers listen to "society" and somehow satisfies them... look at most manufacturers, they give "more" since most buyers think that more is better (but hey there is what we call compromises)... so they give "high specs, low price" and make people go... wow! this is a flagship for a midrange price, not knowing they cut corners...
speaking of lifestyles and preference, my bias is towards undisturbed display, decent camera, capable soc no matter how old it is... no notch or punched holes... but still amazed at how lg thought of dual screen... the use cases it provides are great... and if you want to use it without the case which is also screen, it is possible...
if only we can buy all what we want... 😂 to inspire the real innovators...

AnonD-955101, 13 Sep 2020Design change possibly?
You mean front facing camera om... moreThat or anything else, there are not a single valid reason to be opposed at any design idea that won't affect you negatively in any ways, it only prevent innovations from happening because of the way comments can have a huge impact on marketing decisions, and only have for result to make peoples who want any of those design/feature idea to have no available options.
It can be no front camera, having 10 cameras on the back, having no screen display (using screenless display tech), having no buttons, etc
You'll notice if you were to read all my comments that I never goes against non intrusive tech (meaning you have to deal with it if you don't want it, different from tech that doesn't cause any arm being present on the phone even if you don't use it, like the 3.5mm Jack or IR Blaster for example) and that are excessively invading the market, like the punch hole, the notch and the curved display who represent a way too big portion of the market leaving almost no room for other designs, like pop up, bezels and others.
So as long as peoples will be against the idea of no front camera, despite it having literally no negative impact on their life (it won't be as if all smartphones will get without front camera, only a small amount could get this design), or any other tech, like pop up, dual/stereo speakers, 3.5mm Jack, etc, I'll still insist, whenever I deem it necessary, to bring it up to counter the unjustified and useless negativity around it.
In other words, as long as peoples will complain about it, I'll talk about it.
Almost any design/feature is worth defending on the Smartphone market who lack diversity.

Anonymous, 13 Sep 2020If this turns out jack-less, maybe they will say the turnin... moreI'm sure it they have to justify it, it will be about the thickness of each of the two body than the cables, as at the lower part the bodies are enclosed in both top and bottom, the cables wouldn't have issues except if you were to run them as far as the phone's upper part where the rotating mechanism is.
The battery excuse is stupid as the Jack is placed in a part of the body that the battery doesn't have access to, it is where a big part of the antennas and the vibration motor are located.
Making the smartphone 0.5mm thicker would allow for way more than 100mAh battery gained, and as I said often, there is no point in making a smartphone under 10mm anyway, except some models for those who like slim devices, which, past the hype and trend effect, actually not that much peoples have any real advantages at, as a thicker device is actually more confortable to hold, 15mm being the average thickness of a finger, and a quite natural thickness to handle, a phone between 10mm to 15mm with a sweetspot probably at 12mm would be better for a lot of peoples.
Way more peoples and have use of want smaller (width and height) phone than slimmer phones, yet phones are almost all under 10mm (even under 8mm actually) and almost none are compact, which prove the hypocrisy of the brands who gave that excuse.
And thanks you, I am defending diversity, I am not interested in that design, but I defend it because it doesn't cause any arm to have it, most peoples don't even realize that alternative/weird designs often lead to some discoveries for new features or new implementations of commonly used things, and this is a good things, same for giving peoples who want X or Y feature a chance to get it.

LG always trying to do something different, appreciate their efforts and build quality, but
I don't think any practical use of the Wing Series, how we can use this device daily life, it's better they reduce the price and set big battery same like Asus did in the Flagship series cell
also nowadays every company makes a cell with no notch still they released LG V60 with a notch

Anonymous, 13 Sep 2020other company doing stuff people : wow, innovation, invent... moreSorry, but this is really a stupid "feature" if we can even call it that. LG's dual screen that works as a book was at least meaningful, similar to Microsoft's Surface Duo without going into foldable displays territory. But this bizarre crucifiction of displays is just dumb. Like duuuuumb. You can't just smear some feces onto something and demand everyone call it innovation...

LG have already experience with 4 devices with 2 screens. So whatever decision they will take with software will be good. For people who say it won't sell cause of its purpose, LG intentionally do weird innovation grab attention which also good as at least they innovate. They didn't meant this phone for sales and profit. Remember people also said what's the use of extra wide angle camera and two screens and LG did it anyway while rest of companies adapted it later and people loved it.

I don't see much demand or appeal for this type of a design, instead, they can make a clamshell phone with two screens on the inside, that would be cheaper and simpler than a folding screen phone i.e razr, it'll be more durable, less complex, with better longevity, while folding with zero gap in between, it can also use strengthened glass as the display doesn't actually fold but are two seperate screens, moreover the whole thing when folded would be a lot compact and pocketable, solving the big phones problem, and they can even bring back the metal design for the exterior build, making the phone resistant to drops, also better looking, so no need for cases. There's just going to be a hinge in between the two displays inside, but that's okay for a lot of other benefits that come along with this implementation. I think manufacturers must at least consider this concept. This can be the perfect phone

Whenever we see foldable phones, we can find the benefits of that design like it can be used as tablet or mini laptop or gaming device and we can say the design useful,
but I still unable to find the benefits of this type of rotating design, whats the special use of this??? I think this is another needless and gimmick from LG, there is no doubt that LG have some good phones also like velvet, v60, or g8x, but they still getting failed to promote and marketing the product in well manner, they must need to learn from Samsung.....
