Anonymous, 20 Sep 2020If we get "tecky" a lot of traffic will be arp an... moremy friend is a typical, "i got nothing to hide" type of character... so he will never learn. but lucky that was his 2nd phone as his LG android phone was completely useless in China anyway, as his email/maps/IM etc was all blocked anyway. His mistake was my learning curve, I leant never to let a HW connect to my network again. Im not use about DNS TCP etc. I just swop the basic, changed pocket wifi brand, added VPN, and change my network to hidden.

As for Chinese devices, well is not quite spionaje, but it can be data mining, profileling, tracking of users behaviour. This type of information makes a lot of money when we talk analytics and so on.

But I... moreIf we get "tecky" a lot of traffic will be arp and dns requests, if it does it to frequently, then yeah, the device might have some not so friendly apps your friend should consider deleting. If the device it self does it, which i won't doubt since it is an huawai afterall, well, the guy shou'd consider a privacy friendly "firewall" like netguard or a dns filter like nextdns with this two one can monitor and block traffic that is not wanted, they are quite powerfull, so one shoud be carefull not to block to much or he will be blocked out if internet. Do not forget dns traffic is udp and the firewall won't be able to block udp requests, but only tcp, that is why this two should be considered in a in combo tool against tracking and info teft.

I own a 2 year old Nokia 6.1 plus. Still works like a charm.waiting for 7.3 to be released.

NSA etc and its closer to yr home. And its worse then china spying (just$) for whatever cause its about YOU. Stored somewhere in the US or europe.
But the N8 i am fine looks good scratched, awesome audio output, still very nice daylight camera, better then LG V30 wich i sold only bcause of the stinGIng screen (OLED PWM). Cheers Poh and Carol btw

But I did experience missing data usage. my friend link his HW phone to my HW hotspot, lots of data was used. But his handset didn't show any record of it. While my wifi app did and my telecom bill did. So not sure what it was, his HW phone, WeChat app or Baidu map app. So don't really want to use any of these 3. I seen data being used, and no ideal what was upload to where ever. Maybe there a difference between HW home unit versus oversea unit. Like obvious monitoring versus discreet data mining. No ideal, too technical for me, but regardless, too scary for me to use.
