am a sony lover ,recently i bought Xperia u with more expectation but am disappointed because very poor battery performance and camera also very poor.

For me personally, I prefer the Xperia S to anything available on the market.
After the very bad experience I had with dated and poor software with the x10, I was very reluctant to get another Sony Mobile.
But after seeing what was on offer from other manufacturers...One x and S3 in particular, I decided to go for the xperia s. And yet again I am suffering on the software side of things. The phone stayed on gingerbread for far too long and when ICS came eventually, it was riddled with issues, many of which still unresolved.
I have accepted that Sony or Sony Ericsson, whatever you want to call them are very poor on software and we just have to accept that. You'll never be up to date with a sony mobile. Who knows things might change but judging from the strong q1 sales of the xperia s, I doubt that very much.
I still wouldn't trade it for anything else because it has more features than the others especially in connectivity. The dedicated HDMI port and TV application is a real winner which I use a lot.
The HTC and Samsung devices just seem to me like speced out phones but that's it. Nothing else
If feels like those two manufactures just go for specs because they have nothing else to offer. Who needs a quad core cpu in a smartphone..almost no one.
The Galaxy nexus running jellybean is the fastest and smoothest android device available which proves that software optimisation is critical.
More cores don't equal faster performance as many misguidedly think. It just means advanced multitasking. To be honest, how much multitasking can you do on a phone.
Looking at sales figures, there is also a lesson in there for Samsung and HTC. HTC have had poor q1 results while the Galaxy s3 has sold 10 million units but 9 million of those were pre orders before the phone was officially released. Since being thrown into the wild, it has sold only 1 million units thereafter.
The early rush for gs3 in pre orders was because of the insane rumour mill that preceded it's launch and also the fact that it was riding on the tail of the successful gs2.(A phone whose success was durely largely to the fact that it had no competition last year rather than anything fantastic about it)
Sony on the other hand has shipped 7 million units(mainly xperia s's) in q1 of this year despite the fact the phone isn't selling well on line and sim free. It just shows that when consumers actually get the chance to see all the phones in the flesh, the sony gets picked more often than not.
If you just go by spec sheet then you're more likely to get the htc or the samsung but trust me the sony is a better phone which will offer most mainstream users more features that they'll actually benefit from on a daily basis.

They have invented an amazing group of phones.Some phones may have some problemss. But in general they all are pretty good. BTW its difficult to satisfy human beings because they see faults in everything.LOL.

Feel sorry for anyone who buys the xperia S. The screen appears to be defective turning yellow at the bottom section. The xperia p seems to have a terrible death grip issue. There appears to be a pinkish tint popping up in xperia u models when pictures are taken. Makes me think these are all defective units. Sounds risky to me buying one of these phones.

It will be a big mistake of any Americans to buy Xperia S. No. It doesn't have any good build quality, the yellow spotted screen will plagued the users. And yes, the Xperia S doesn't sell well around the world, and so the current units with problems is now invading US market as opposed to the initial announcement that Xperia S is for international market while Xperia Ion is for US market. Beware of bad andffaulty purchase and bad customer support! You have been warned!

I wish Sony would make an android device that would have 1700mhz to be able to use high speed data with T-Mobile USA their phone selection is terrible.

THE XPERIA S , is better then the IPHONE 4s and the Galaxy3, and thats when its running on gellybean, cant wait for my ICE CREAM SANDWAGE 4.0 update , fantastic phone, every one has iphones and s2/s3s, the sony is a far nicer and better eqwipted phone.

It being proven after sony n ericsson merge the sales are back on track. Bravia engine not a gimmic its a software. If sony so suck in gedjet why ps3 selling like a hot cakes? Why walkman are the most fav music player.? Ps both are not joint made with ericsson. So it prove sony can built something people will love. Just like samsung.. They are not starting.their bisness by building a phone. But still.can make 20million sales for their galaxy s3. Totally ericsson being kick off cause they cant keep up in smartphone industry. But interm in hardware and bluetooth. Maybe ericsson will make it till the end of the day.

You have no idea about Ericsson, don't you? Ericsson is still alive and one of the most influential company in this telecommunication industry. In terms of history and achievements,
Sony is nothing. It doesn't hold any "real" techs. Even Bravia engine is just a gimmick!
Ericsson decided to break up with Sony, because the mobile phone manufacturing business wasn't profitable comparing to ship the parts of mobiles.
Sony is an entertainment company, not a "real" electronic company.

Then sony merge with ericsson and officially became sony ericsson. Related to its hardware and os i do own most of se device starting with zseries, pseries wseries kseries and cseries and iam not facing any problem. But on that times symbian are the most wanted os. But when you mention w910 which is not android os really not making any sense to compare with android os. And the quality built not only sony facing this.problem. You miss ericsson?? Sony buy ericsson, ericsson still alive under sony names. By marking sony brand you.do aware you marking ericsson itself.

suresh, 17 Jul 2012don't compare sony quality with samsung.I did have w910i and several other SE phones. W910i was the best seller in my town. Of course, next to iphone, but it was still popular among the students who couldn't afford iphone since it has a fancy future such as shaking to play next music track thing and etc.
However, it constantly freeze(there was a lot of complaining about software corruptions) and it has short battery life.
In a short, the built quality of SE was crap and so does Sony.
I missed Ericsson though, Ericsson was the real deal.
Sony hasn't done nothing in the telecommunication industry. Well, as a matter of a fact, it's rather an entertainment company than an electric company.

It has great graphics and design than any other current phone out there. I own a xperia s once and its great phone. Yellow tint is a long ago issue and sony's store willing to exchange those yellow tint unit if there's any. Windows OS isn't a bad option either. They can both sell android ang windows or even meego.
