An interesting presentation, a great concept, but why was it impossible to make a high-quality stero from the ends of the big screen ?! Again, a dull combined (hybrid) slot for SIM and SD, lack of 3.5, there is also no periscope camera for zoom. For that there are as many as 2 ultrawide cameras - why? Where is the logic? Better a good zoom and a TOF. A selfies motorized module is great, but could have been made with two cameras and led).

The wing screen actually refers to the bigger screen that like a bird's wing spreads when you swivel it out. Don't confuse the wing screen for the small screen, that one is built in the 'main' physical device.
So there should be no durability issues.

I dont know i just dont understand this thing. The wing screen is basically thin screen and when you hold it then the smaller screen part that is heavier should have the hardware and battery in it. You always hold your phone in a angle so you probably bend the wing screen or it's contact hinges that will broke in time. I just dont understand this in any way

For the people who do not realize what the use of this phone is: Please read the article again.
This design is incredible for binging movies/videos on the go. And general multitasking and multiscreen usage (bottom keyboard/controls, dual apps in main display). Big fan of it. The landscape hold of rectangular slabs is extremely unwieldy and I believe this is the best way to hold a phone with one hand and be able to experience wide screen content. From a one hand usability perspective, this design is better than any rectangular slabs, foldables or future roll outs. I really hope LG won't abandon this design and release more phones in this form factor.
There are just so many things you can do in landscape mode, and allowing ease of one handed use will be massive game changer. Wide selfies/groupies, gimbal videography, video chats, spreadsheets, video/photo editing, you name it.

507AMS, 14 Sep 2020..I'm not 100% sure about the real benefits having add... moreguys!!! watch the unveiling... i was quite late to the party... it was unbox therapy on video when i started watching... and even though i dont vlog, the swivel in gimbal mode is awesome... there are use cases mentioned i never thought possible... content creation, media consumption, productivity multitasking... i was really hyped watching it... it might not be the "future" since many people are brand sensitive, but i would consider this form factor over folds and flips... there are a lot of tech we should welcome this year... or perhaps on my favorites - xperia has made interesting addons to 1 mk ii at least to photography enthusiasts and gamers for the game mode, asus went a notch higher on their flip camera, and now lg wing, i was already amazed at dual screen, being "just" an addon, yet it has a lot of use cases too...
we also cant unnotice the zooming hype of most chinese makers and of samsung... and of course the folds, flips, under display camera...
we might see some of this as unnecessary, but give yourself or others more options on form factors or features just like the mad days of nokia where we see "weird" form factors and features...

After that MKBHD tw... moreA few years ago when i realized that all big youtubers started bashing on LG for every little thing they do, i just instantly erased them all and never went back to watching them. Including MKBHD and all the big names. They are nothing but money hungry, greedy people. And who pays more will get more. LG doesnt properly advertise their products, and they dont pay those big youtubers to test their products. Even when LG released an absolute beast of a phone, those youtubers would just bash more and more. I have been in the smartphone industry ever since 2012, and i have been watching all youtubers that worked with phones, with Joshua Vergara leading the way (with Android Authority at the time) and Juan Bagnell. Currently, these two are the only ppl you will find, that are honestly testing and commenting on all products... I felt so excited while watching the unveiling of the LG Wing. Its finally a different phone at thos age when all we have is the ocean of "same". Wing is not meant to have the best performance nor specs, but to deliver something new, once again, like back then when LG used to make new stuff all the time.

I've expected to keep 3.5 jack, pack front facing camera under rotating screen, so only in unfolded way it can be used. Also it it weights a ton.
But this is great they are trying to find something new. Wish them best luck)

I was just hoping LG didn't forget of how clumsy most people are. The bigger the gap, the more tendency that people accidentally breaks their new toy - I'm talking on how long that spinning mechanism works against careless persons.

Most people are interested in foldables, but not at the current price point. The prices will come down in a few years at most. You'll have $500 foldables from the likes of Realme & Xiaomi, which will end up in most people's pockets.
The thing is, that there hasn't been any breakthroughs in the smartphone industry in the last 5+ years. The foldable tech is the only fresh tech that spices up the smartphone game. That's why people find it interesting.
Perhaps in a few years, they'll come up with something even better than foldables. Until then, let's just appreciate what we've got.

Be happy for LG instead of being so negative. If you don't see any use for this phone it doesn't mean that others will find no use for the design.

Fantastic idea. But I still have a doubt about the performance of snapdragon 765G with LG's UI. If LG charges mid-range price I might consider buying it as my 2nd Android phone.
