You realize no device 10 years ago had 2 touch screen displays.. if your going to call this lack of innovation then the entire industry has been dying since the first iPhone was released considered even phone to follow it has been a rectangle slab.
Right I also forgot every other phone on the market has a literal Gimbal built into the camera , oh yeah they don't and almost everytime I watch a video or do a conference call on my phone I get notifications that interfere with the video or conference and the wing solves those issues with the smaller display while giving you a more comfortable grip than holding it horizontally.. I see people using selfie sticks to just hold their phone regulary

LG (the mediocre champ)might as well cease smartphone production, along with Huawei(the spyware king).

It's funny how all these phone companies are taking old tech and features that existed a decade or more ago, making minor alterations, putting a spit polish on it, and then saying, "look at how cool and innovative we are!" This is just an updated version of those old phones that slid open and closed. [The old ones were in The Matrix, if I remember correctly.] I've seen this technique with a few different companies now in regards to "innovation." Anything to try and justify charging people $1500 for a phone, eh? lol

Anonymous, 15 Sep 2020How about they tease with ir blaster, removable battery and... moreThey'd lose out on companies pushing out a new model every other week. Removable battery fans like us do not bring them money since we will just buy once every 5 years.

I like that they're thinking out of the box, but it feels like they'd rather spend money on novelty to try to capture sales rather than investing in something much harder: refining their software & features, and supporting it well. For this reason I think LG mobile's death spiral will continue.

Anonymous, 15 Sep 2020How about they tease with ir blaster, removable battery and... moreSo true, i just broke an LG V40 display, now i'm looking for a new V40 one and no stock in Europe as it's an 2018 flagship. Have to buy 2018 flagship because it has phenomenal audio with headphone jack, MQA native and DoP, everything else is 2 years behind on LG V40... I can't understand why they remove really usefull features, not mantain course with historical proven good ones... I would pay 1300 euro for a Huawei P40 Pro with good ESS DAC/ Headphone jack/MQA for Tidal and DoP for SACD RIPs, or 1300 euro for an LG V40 with Huawei P40 features...

How about they tease with ir blaster, removable battery and the other features it abandoned... That would get my attention. As it is shopping for 5 year old devices because those are the ones that have the features I want.

It is fine I guess. The front screen is a lot thinner than I thought so it is no that much fatter than a regular phone plus you get 150% the screen size. Still this is going to have a very short production run as slideout and rollable phones take over the expandable phone market. It better be competitively priced if they want to sell any.

I agree with you, but unforunately, Sony's late choice of 21/9 display ratios is the worst for me. I never use the phone for vídeos, but I do lots of web browsing.

It's just gimmicky if you ask me.

Anonymous, 15 Sep 2020What's the point of this?To be different and possibly attract an audience with this form as opposed to being just another rectangle like every other phone out there crammed with randomly slapped on hardware stuff.

Little problem for LG.
They spend tons of R&D on these, then they barely sell.
Chinese brands will copy, spend zero R&D and sell much more.
