Yet you want us to think that they are cheating? On what basis?

[deleted post]Suspected? UL and other benchmark companies frequently remove phones that have cheated in their tests from the list, and they only do so after verifying that the accusations are true (which has been the case for pretty much all accusations made by Anandtech). Those phones have already been proven guilty.

One more thing to add, the definition of "cheating" that you're using is different from what the benchmark "cheating" is, and you're just playing on words here by mixing those terms up.

iOS Never Again, 17 Sep 2020The input might land at the exact time but it does not repr... more"how accurately the average human opens an app"
There, that's your misconception. Humans don't open the app, the phone does. When you're measuring app opening times between phones the only thing you need to make sure is that you tap the display without any delay which would become problematic on human fingers as the response time varies depending on the wetness/dryness of those fingers, their shapes and angles they interact with a display at. A mechanically stabilised stylus does not face such an issue because the tip used for touching the display is always the same and always lands on it perpendicularly to the surface. After tapping the app icons, phones do all the jobs to open and load the apps and there's no human interaction whatsoever during those processes.

PhoneBuff lists the INDIVIDUAL all opening time for every single app they used at the end of the videos and you can clearly see that the processing/loading for office documents, games, photo editing, video rendering are done much quicker on iPhones. They are now able to obtain more accurate results for those BECAUSE they switched to the robotic arm. Heck, that's actually the whole reason why they did so.

[deleted post]Why do you keep asking me this again and again? What does that have to do with benchmark cheating? Not all android oems are cheating. Also, It wasnt suspected, it was proven. Anandtech didnt try to bring down every android phone in existence, only the ones that had cheat files in them.

iOS Never Again, 17 Sep 2020Folks over at Anandtech and a few salty guys in this commen... moreI think they called out a lot of android oems before. The latest ones they caught were pretty interesting though, where mediatek cheated on helio soc and doesnt cheat on dimensity soc, in pcmark i think. Mediatek accused competitor of same cheating too, i guess it was qualcomm, as seen in galaxy s20 review on anandtech they mention the sd version gets unusually hot on 3dmark, same for other sd phones too, that they removed 3dmark from their list.

In my experience there were no changes that affected the cpu/gpu performance, like switching to the performance governor or relaxed thermals. These have been verified by me. Maybe they had more aggressive scheduling, but its effect wasnt seen at all in games. I guess they also boost touchscreen voltage stuff for better response or something, but that doesnt affect performance. On my poco f1 you could see the difference of various thermal profiles easily, in benchmarks and stuff like pubgm. Nothing of that sort in oos.

I never called it cheating, im all for user selectable power modes. I just stated the consequences.
Mi 10 ultra is one thing, oneplus doesnt have that kind of a performance mode.

They put A12 numbers because Ipad Air 3 runs A12. A12 is around SD865 level, so this means A14 destroys SD865 and upcoming SD875,A14 is new chipset king, have a good day.

These can be verified via a third party app like Ex Kernel manager.

Calling high performance mode as cheating itself is unfair.
Look at Xiaomi Mi 10 ultra review from Gsmarena, they've highlighted how it is not cheating since these settings are available to end user.

This is why 2-3 apps opened with that robotic arm is equivalent to a person opening 5 apps in the same time frame in real life.

Phone buff speed tests have been debunked.
This is why that channel alone gets results which are completely contradictory to all other tech channels doing speed tests on YouTube.

Also could you enlighten me how those little twitches on those robotic arms will have ANY effects on the individual app opening speed of phones being compared? Using that mechanism the tip of the stylus lands on a display perfectly fine with almost non-existent delay, whereas human fingers definitely have some issues in this regard.

Lol That robotic arm which shakes after every touch on the screen is slower than my grandma who twitches her hand while holding onto something.
Most people have faster hands and navigate through the UI much smoothly compared to that garbage robotic mechanism.
2-3 apps opened with that robotic arm is equivalent to a person opening 5 apps in the same time frame in real life.

Antutu runs for too low of a time period to affect long term performance. Dolphin, Citra damonps2 emulators will make the latest 865+ throttle. So do native games like pubgm/fortnite at highest settings. There prolly are other stuff like video editors, but i havent looked it up. My sd 855 can even keep constant 60 on asphalt 9 on lowest settings, imagine something like that 90 or 120.
And im not even talking about talking about games, just telling you that the cheated highscores give unrealistic expectations on normal use cases, where if you look at a high score similar to a higher end soc and expect your phone to perform similar, it will do it with perf mode, but will either drain fast or just throttle down.

And you are once again wrong, oneplus has no performance mode, i know cus i use one. Who knows which other oems dont include it?
